If there is one thing I really find offensive it's the term "mansplaining". It seems to me like some kind of political correct form of ad hominem attack. Somehow, some women who consider themselves expert in certain areas use this term when they are criticized by men. Sometimes these men are -- more or less objectively -- wrong. In other cases these men are right. And in almost all cases, it's an evaluativistic discussion where there's no right or wrong, just a more or less supported -- e.g., critical examination of the evidence and discussion is continuously needed.

Still, I wonder whether these (subset of) women somehow do not see the Internet as marketplace of ideas, that even experts might be wrong, that even if they are experts in an area this is not immediately obvious to someone reading a tweet or blog post, etc.

And most of all I wonder: How do you deal with accusations of mansplaining?

Personally, it seems to me to be an abysmal strategy to deal with criticism which will -- over time -- lead to a situation where these women will not receive any feedback at all. And without feedback -- how can you improve -- or hell, even do reality checks?
