To me it's an issue because I think around 90% of men who do get circumcised don't have a say in this decision because they're still kids. This is the main problem I see with it.

Hearing of some people that their sex-life basically has been ruined just by parental/religious beliefs rings some bells. This won't apply for all circumcised men of course, but even one such voice is loud enough for me.

I take the same position when the topic is fgm, no difference there.

Babies are having their penis mutilated for no reason. It's a human right's issue. Vaginas are protected by the force of the law, penii should be equally protected. If the practice has any merit, and it doesn't from what I can tell, there is zero issue waiting until the actual person that has to live with the penis attached to their body can make an informed decision about it.

I don't shut down men who are circumcised. I hate the it happened to them without permission. People who did it with their own free will. That's fine or a serious health issue is fine.

I feel it's an important issue because it's an inherently barbaric practice. It's literally cutting up babies and destroying healthy tissue from the male's most sensitive area. It's a life changing moment that has been called out by many as unnecessary and has had far to many problems associated with it.

It goes against human rights to force a surgery on a healthy child. We talk about how consent is key in society for many other factors, why shouldn't it be key when it comes to our own bodies? If there is no absolute immediate medical need, don't cut.

Many men like myself have suffered because of what was pushed off onto us by our parents while we were healthy. Society refuses to listen to us and makes excuses like I was botched. Being botched would apply if I decided I wanted a surgery even if I technically didn't need it, not a surgery thats forced on a healthy child.

I still feel physical pain and experience bodily damage from circumcision forced on me as an infant. I've had reconstructive surgery which just resulted in more scars.

We fight against surgeries like this when it happens to girls, hell 30 states in America have laws outright banning the genital cutting of girls. The laws state that religious, customary and cultural reason are also not allowed. That language make those laws in violation of the equal protection clause which says that no law can be made which denies equal protection based on gender, race, serial orientation, religion and so on.

Shouldn't boys, girls and intersex children all have equal protections against non therapeutic or essential surgeries?

Their stance is not the problem.

Their method are.

Its a debate we need to have, but going in unrelated sub to soapbox about it is not efficient when its note done well. And complaining about mod to why you get banned for bringing this uncomfortable subject to people who want to have fun is plainly stupid.

I agree with them on the fact that this practise should be ditched, but they need to learn gow to debate wirhouth being assholes as it only drive people away from their position.
