Shared physical custody as the presumptive law. Unless one parent is shown to be unfit, both parents should be given shared custody, both physical and legal.

Men's rea when it comes to statutory rape. It basically applies to virtually every crime out there and the general meaning is that in order to be guilty of that crime, you must have shown intent to break some laws/commit the crime. When it comes to statutory rape, checking for ID, making sure a girl is of a certain age (aka legal, above the age of consent), picking her up in a place where you have to be 21 or older, etc isn't enough to get you off. You simply broke the law, and it doesn't matter if she lied and how well she lied to you.

For counter examples and unfairness you should do your own research, but since I'm trying to prove a point about unfairness I'll give you an example. Debra Lafave was a teacher fairly close to where I live who broke this law. She received no prison time because her lawyer argued something along the lines of "she couldn't handle prison, she's too pretty and would be abused, etc". She not only got off easy for violating her parole, but also had her parole reduced simply for being attractive. Turns out, if you're hot enough, the age of consent doesn't apply to you, especially if you have a vagina.

It really depends on where you live. Have any of your representatives supported a Men's Rights issue? Have any fought against?

Keep in mind that (unless your teacher has stated otherwise) this can be both federal or state representatives. For example, there was a push in Michigan for a law that made joint custody automatic unless one of the parents was unfit. Has your state considered a law in support of Men's Rights? Has your representative tried to bring the issue to light but was brushed under the rug? Were they the one doing the brushing?
