It's important to normalize walking guys home. In fact, walking girls home implies that men protects women, ie in case of aggression to the couple the man is supposed to act as the woman's human shield, to potentially die for saving her. In fact, it's socially acceptable for women to get behind men's shoulders in case of aggression, to push the man against the aggressor to be saved using him as a meat shield, and to run away letting the guy facing the aggressor alone.
Instead, reversing roles, it's not expected for the girl to intervene to save the guy from the aggression.
Note: it's not expected for the guy to actually beat the aggressor, so it's not a physical size issue. Even a weak or small or psychologically weak guy is expected to be seen as expendable and facing the aggressor, potentially even dying, for giving time to the girl to escape.
So, similarly, reversing the roles, it should be socially expected for girls to accept to potentially die in order to give guys time to escape from the aggressor.
So, we should normalize walking men home at least as much as it's normalized walking women home. Because in a couple nobody should be seen as a human shield, it should be normal to just take hands and run away together, or both should be human shields, the girl should be expected to die for saving the guy as much as it's socially expected for the guy to die for saving the girl.
