"Where is masculinity headed? Let's ask the lesbian, genderfluid and MTFTM experts! Coincidentally, they all loathe those evil fuckers."

the global nonprofit ManKind Project says it has close to 10,000 members in 21 nations, is ethnically and socioeconomically diverse and aims to draw men of all ages

How wonderful. It doesn't matter your creed, color, orientation or anything else. We're all united in joy at the fact that menz are fucking goddamned evil no matter what they say, think or do. Healthy masculinity is all about sobbing and shame!

some male clients come to her looking for insight because they've been struggling with romantic relationships. It turns out, she says, the issue beneath the struggle is that they feel they cannot show emotion without being ridiculed or demeaned, which makes it hard for them to be intimate with their partners.

They also happen to be absolutely goddamned right, but the problem is still within men. The problem, see, is that they haven't sobbed enough, and they must sob ten times more, and then someone else might stop wanting to shoot them dead for being so irritatingly sobby...

My effing god, this whole thing reads like a propaganda leaflet dropped from a Junkers plane the night before.

Men being taught to be sensitive and not afraid to cry was the biggest slap in the face to my generation.

Being in touch with your emotions is fine, but nobody stopped to think about what women desire. Nobody stopped to realize we also needed to be teaching girls to find such traits desirable...

Now we've got a generation of men that cry when they run over bunny rabbits and an entire generation of women that get the shocked Pikachu face when he does. Women want to see their man as a rock, someone that can and will handle anything that comes their way and crying is antithesis to this. Consciously they know they should find it attractive when their man is emotional but biologically they dry up and stop finding him suitable as a mate.

This plays out in society as a whole not just when it comes to romance.

Pretty much everything Men were told to be, starting in the 80's, was wrong and now we're paying the price. Neither gender is happy about it.

Truth. It's a hard pill to swallow.

NPR could do much better. Equating the men's rights movement with right wing is an elementary error. I have to suspect that the intent is to imply that men's rights is an unpleasant and foolish reactionary group that can safely be downplayed.

I'm centrist / left and have not voted republican in decades - and I believe there are a lot of non-activists like me who quietly believe that the women's movements have gone from useful and necessary to destructive.

Remember, they are going to praise the movement they want to happen rather than the movement that needs to happen. They will praise any movement that smears their opponents.

+1 MGTOW.

Feminists' obsession over men expressing emotion is just a Trojan horse to make men's issues about women. When you go down the rabbit hole enough, you will find that they believe men are forced into stoicism due to hatred of the feminine (misogyny). Thus, the solution for men's problems is to fight misogyny. As the Church Lady used to say, "how convenient."
