To better aid the understanding of the data, I made some plots.

What stood out to me was that the rate of increase of female participation (by ratio of degrees awarded) has been mostly steady since 1966. Linear fits of those lines shows a yearly increase in the ratios of around 1.4% to 1.8%.

Also, the plateaus in the plots at various times are interesting, especially in the Bachelor's degree data.

Not all STEM fields are the same. The same guy has also presented the same data in reverse, with some interesting commentary (including some examples of anti-male discrimination):

Why do we disproportionately focus on majors where women are underrepresented, when there’s a much larger set of majors where men are vastly outnumbered by women? Especially given the fact that women earn 60% of all college degrees in the U.S., there seems to be some severe reporting bias going on here. ... Gender equality is a double-edged sword. If we want to work toward gender equality for women, we need to work toward gender equality for men too. Women aren’t alone in their struggle against discrimination. It’s about time we acknowledged that.
