It is a shaming technique. You now associate masculine with toxic in your mind.
Bullying is often seen as toxic masculinity. What about when girls bully other girls? Toxic Masculinity, right?
Individual Behavior is toxic and neither general has a lock on it.

I see at as people using masculinity to justify behaviour that is violent or otherwise harmful. Boys don’t cry, men should never complain, etc. are a big part of it, and contribute to many of the problems men face in society. It’s also reinforced by many women, to be fair, and toxic femininity is a similar problem for them. My issue with the term mainly comes from the fact that it is commonly used to blame men for the problems they face, which is a pretty reductive argument.
