I would not join, because I have no relation to GBT, have zero knowledge of their specifics, and also, they have their own organisations, support nets and such. Wich MRA do not have. So I see no need in watering down rhetoric with that questions.

Although, I think, that most of GBT problems in MRA sphere are essentially the same as hetero guys have. (Minus marriage-related ofc).

I think it would be better to continue to make posts here on these topics. Small fish in a big pond beats big fish in a small pond.

Maybe try and get a flair for the topic to filter better. (is filtering on flair a thing? or did I imagine it?)

The other problem I have with it is ..... do those three groups have anything in common? I mean really do they? I guess the G and the B to some extent. It feels like you're just throwing anyone "odd" in together which feels a bit.... off.... to me. I know feminists do it all the fucking time but guess what? I don't like a lot of the ways feminists do things. Especially lumping the T in with sexual orientation issues when T isn't a sexual orientation issue and it others them when their biggest issue is being othered.... it just feels off. But I'm not any of those letters so what do I know I guess. If they just want to be treated as other men, why split them off?

Plus 90% of the issues of male discrimination for G/B men is the same as any other men?

I think us exploring the unique issues of gay bisexual and trans men can strengthen our advocacy and disprove harmful stereotypes

The only advantage to splitting off is if you want more of a safe space but that could be said for straight/cis male victims too. This isn't a safe space at all even though we regularly get victims telling their stories.

Honestly if you were going to split off some subset of men that way I could see a black (USA) group or a group for stories from India happening first. But I'd probably lean against that too.

To the extent this move would be successful wouldn't it mean you'd decrease representation of these issues here? Like the way the existence of LWMA tends to pull this sub to the right which is probably not what they intended although it's really pretty predictable. As a communist I don't want a left leaning MRA board unless it's specifically to attack the idea that feminists represent the left -- which they don't do. I could see how actual Socialists would have more credibility when criticizing feminists when they pretend to be Socialists. That's more of an in-fight (except it technically isn't because feminists can't be Socialists) to be settled between Socialists so I can see why splitting that off makes sense and there's been a few attempts at boards like that over the years but with little success due to numbers.

Numbers would be the problem I think. I guess that's why you'd want to recruit people from this sub to hang out there too, which I'd be happy to try doing but for me personally that just becomes a pain in the neck because now I have to click on the menu twice to check two different subs which are (to my mind) basically the same sub.

Don't we already learn about it here? Maybe we need a test to see how much people here already know.

Honestly I'm not sure what I would say the number one gay-specific men's rights issue is right now. Maybe adoption. I'm pretty sure for trans men it would be the way they only get representation through a feminist filter which basically sees them as women. But those are probably USA-centric answers. OTOH a lot of LGBTQT+ stuff is USA-centric. For bisexual men, I actually have no idea because I have never seen any bisexual related men's rights issue mentioned here or anywhere else. However I think that tends to be typical for that "B" that it's just thrown in there to make some groups sound inclusive without any real discussion or representation (and also true for the T I suspect).

I'd welcome it, but I honestly think it may fare better to have gay/bi/trans men post here with their own flair if that can be accommodated. GBT men's experiences could help shed new light on some men's issues, it'd be easier to access for people here already, along with solidarity in numbers, and if there's anyone here that for any reason doesn't want to see/read it, they could know immediately by the flair, like how we already allow for intactivism, false accusations, and the like.

The LGBTQ+ community is pretty widespread and represented and you almost can't go a single day without hearing about it. Instead of giving more attention to a community that already has plenty, why not focus on MRA and men's issues (which, by the way, don't keep out the GBT), which is already a thin and underrepresented minority? Why thin this minority even more?

Nah. Do your thing. There are plenty of "Intersectionalist" groups for LGBTQ. This sub is (or should be) simply for, and about Men, of all races, colors, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, etc WITHOUT overwhelming consideration or preference for their race, color, religious affiliation, sexual orientation as a matter of belongingness.

GBT already has a lot of coverage, not to mention most men do not face those struggles. Only a small minority does, so for the most part this would not be something many men IMO would be so inclined to join.

Cis straight men is the main target audience I think

Not that I've ever seen any lesbians discuss it but their DV figures being so high is probably due to how men are treated and how the feminist run DV system has to see all violence as due to men which means that lesbian couples DV issues are necessarily hidden by the feminists. I bet they have higher rates of being killed by their partner than other women too, though I've never seen that figure anywhere.

But yeah - lesbians don't have many men's rights issues impacting them as lesbians (they get all the usual crap happening to their male children, brothers and fathers of course).
