This brings up a side issue, which is that there are an enormous range of circumstances labelled rape, and I wonder how much the legal system recognizes them, ranging from I-woke-up-the-next-morning-and-realized-my-one-night-stand-was-ugly-rape to mugged-in-an-ally-by-ten-thugs-and gang-raped-within-an-inch-of-my-life-got-pregnant-and-contracted-hiv-rape.

Note that nearly as many men and women are victims of stranger rape.

What I'm really interested in is how many rape cases are by a stranger in an "unsafe" place. Like walking alone in the middle of the night, or other things that women are always told to be afraid of. The problem with statistics that just say "Stranger", that I've found, is that they never specify the circumstances.
