I sent them an email and got a response today. I will include both my original email and the response, but will not be including any names.

I am writing in regards to the ad I have attached below.

I am of the belief that it is wrong to advertise this outdated barbaric practice that only saw wide scale use because of a sex hating prude who wished to end masturbation. Mr kellogs idea for boys was circumcision, and for girls it was acid on the clitoris.

At the very best circumcision is a 100% cosmetic and unnecessary procedure done without the persons consent, akin to a tattoo. At the worst it can have life altering complications, including excessive scaring, infection, and bleeding, which can result in permanent damage to or amputation of the penis, or even in some cased death. But hey, his should look like mine right?

I now invite you to watch this so you may decide how natural and healthy a procedure it is. Let us also note how truthful the ad is when it claims "Minimal discomfort" and "virtually bloodless" http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xjkd30_infant-circumcision-injection-and-procedure_news

Thank you for your feedback regarding this specific advertisement on Calgary Transit. All advertising campaigns with Calgary Transit are handled by contractors. Our contractors do their best to ensure advertisements on the system are in alignment with the Canadian Advertising Standards.

However, we have received feedback from the public regarding the circumcision ads and as a result we have made a request for our contractor to take it back to the advertising standards group to determine whether the circumcision ad is acceptable.

Once we receive an answer, we will follow up with you on the decision.
