Maybe not. She might be intending just play up her lack of legal knowledge to make herself look like a victim. Yes, her defense will be weaker, but the goal is to convince people she should be allowed to live, not to prove to people she should be allowed to live. Emotion is generally the best way to do that.

They got through the Trayvon Martin case fast as shit, but people see a female murderer and it's 6 fucking years of umming and ahhing.

I doubt that a jury will sentence a female to death. I just hope that she is never allowed to set foot out of prison for the rest of her life.
