Awwwww, whining about whining. Have a hug dear.

There's nothing wrong with calling women sluts because sluttery is a good thing. Wear it with pride that you are able to satisfy so many men.

Also, as a man, it is not his place.

Does that mean that it's still okay for women to use slut in a derogatory way? Is it still okay for men to promote sluttery as a good thing?

It's so confusing, please tell me my place as a man?

In that case, it's not really a gender issue but rather the use of derogatory terms where everything is equal and every derogatory term is as bad as any other.

I never really understood why some women think that slut is derogatory or that it only ever applies to women. Do you prefer the term sex-positive woman? It's a bit much, are there other options?

Sure, not really got anything better to be doing with my time.

The case against the word slut.

First, let's determine what slut means. As you point out, it has really two meanings, one which is negative and the other positive.

The negative meaning: It's used as a slur against women who are sexuall promicuous. And I do mean women specifically, as I stated before, it is rarely used against men and even then only with some kind of prefix to indictate that it's talking about a man rather than the default meaning, woman.

The positive meaning: Because many women, particularly feminists, believe that being sexually promicuous isn't a bad thing, they are attempting to reappropriate "slut" and are wearing it like a badge of honour, since it's connotations are nothing to be ashamed of.

Okay, so I've established the two meanings, but why should men stop saying the word, surely they can use it positively right?

No. Reappropriation must be carried out by the group the slur is used against, otherwise it doesn't work. If the group starts using the slur in a way that isn't insulting to them, then the oppressive group is stumped, they can't use the slur as an insult anymore! However, if a member of the privileged group starts referring to the oppressed with the slur, but in a "friendly" manner, this does nothing to change things, since the oppressed group will still find it offensive, so it will still be used against them.

Furthermore, the slur will still offend the oppressed group, just because you've assigned it a positive meaning doesn't mean they have.

Now on to why using slut in a negative way is such a bad thing.

It shames women for being sexually promicuous, and perpetuates the idea of sacred virginity and that a woman who has been "defiled" is worth less as a person.

It perpetuates narratives that a woman's worth is based in her worth as a sexual partner, and that when her virginity is taken, so is her worth.
