In canada i knew who I was dealing with and already tried a mutual mediator (no independent counsel for either) with someone who wasn't even a lawyer, but has some courses.. explained to my lawyer how much of a disaster it was and how I just wanted to go to court. Was basically told they wouldn't even see us unless they saa is doing mediation and that it was going to be so much more expensive... Bills racked up and I asked again. Told she's not even sure where they'd assign us to, whether it was a special or start with morning chambers etc. That they don't do it holistically.. that they'd ask whether it was financial or custody. Financial wasn't too bad, but custody dragged on and was told courtrooms don't like to make big changes, just slight shifts from status quo. So yeah it's a pain in Canada to actually sit in front of a judge for family law from what I've been told. I know court is expensive, but considering my bpd ex not sure I saved anything lol

so they won't force victims of DV to go through it.

will that apply to male victims? I notice the article is spinning it toward only female victims.

and how are they going to manage it when the parties are in separate countries( like i am).

If my ex was made to come to my country, she would likely face arrest so I don't think she would even dare step into this country..

that looks to me like another grift...
