Cuck.

It's here and it looks like we're going to see more of it. "Cuck" is starting to replace "mangina" as the go-to derogatory term for men who some parts of the manosphere don't like.

It's an ugly word with an ugly origin.

A man whose wife is unfaithful. tr.v. cuck·old·ed, cuck·old·ing, cuck·olds. To make a cuckold of. [Middle English cokewald, from Anglo-Norman cucuald, from cucu, the cuckoo, from Vulgar Latin cuccūlus, from Latin cucūlus.] - The Free Dictionary

To be cuckolded often meant that a man unwittingly would raise children who he believed to be his own, when in fact they were the offspring of another man. In the harsh game of evolution, his genes were effectively denied victory and his efforts were stolen for the benefit of parasites.

That's a pretty ugly crime, not far short of rape in my estimation. Modern contraceptives and welfare states may serve to mitigate its effects, but it's still a nasty thing to do.

A cuckold, or "cuck", is a victim, a loser in the game of human society and reproduction. I don't much like the use of a term that denotes victimisation as an insult, but people can be cruel.

So what should we do with this word? Use it, censor it, ignore it, try to rehabilitate it, or something else?

Edit: I should make it clear that this post is just a springboard for discussion, and my opinions are personal only. This is not in any way a statement of moderator policy, and there is no proposal to ban any words. If there were, I'd oppose it! :)
