I made a similar post in twox out of curiosity. Here's a thought I had:

Sexism is inevitable because you can't stop people from making assumptions about people based on their gender. We simply can't view men the same way we view women and that's why misandry exists. When we look at men we either look at them in a positive way or a negative way. Both of these are bad for men.

For instance, if you think that men are aggressive, dominant and scary well that's obviously going to have a negative affect on your relationship to men. But if you see men as strong, stoic protectors - all stereotypical traits - that leads to men being forced to be something they're not. Because we look at people a certain way based on their sex, we can't stop sexism. These assumptions lead to mistreatment and unfairness and there's nothing we can do about it because you can't change the minds of everyone in the world.

And because we often view men as powerful and dangerous it makes us sympathize with men less hence the empathy gap. A woman's death is seen as far more tragic than a man's death because we just don't look at men and women the same.

The most we can do is discourage outright hostility between the sexes. It is possible to reduce the amount of violence in the world but I feel like there will always be sexism. What do you think? Do you have anything to add?
