There are five countries where women commit more suicides than men: China (9/7 per 100 000), Bangladesh (9/7), Indonesia (5/4), Iraq (2/1), and Pakistan (9.6/9.1). Among the widest suicide gaps are in Poland (4/31), Russia (6/35), Belarus (6/33), Hungary (7/32), and Latvia (4/31).

In Bangladesh, women have the vote and seat reserved for them in Parliament, Pakistan has had a female leader, many women in China are thriving in business, especially Hong Kong, Iraqi woman had been making progress once, before Gulf War 1, before the West turned it into a glorified crator, but women do have the vote in a Iraq.

Indonesian women do have the vote, but they need to be educated and own property, same as men I believe.

Just to state the obvious; most of these countries are places where women are actually oppressed in just about every way. Women are treated as objects, they are beaten for speaking against a man, they get no property when they leave a husband (for whatever reason), they can't own property, most can't even drive or vote.

These are places where actual oppression exists where modern feminists fail to assist or raise awareness for because they are drawing attention to their not being able to find clothes for plus sized women - that is, they live in a place where food is so abundant the women are over fed. Where women draw media attention to their being "bullied" online for posting bullshit and cry when someone has a differing opinion.

If modern feminism really wanted to make things better for ALL women, they would focus on actually oppression and the betterment of women in these countries, rather than crying about Kesha's manager. That is a feminism I think we could all stand behind.
