They always talk about the past as if during all human history men were just plotting against women and actively trying to make their lives miserable. The past was rough for everyone. Men worked and women stayed with the kids because it was efficient. It wasn’t about privilege.

Pretty much. Due to high infant mortality and maternal mortality, women were pregnant or nursing from adulthood to menopause. If women were oppressed, it was because of biology and disease, not men.
