The purpose of this poster is to challenge society's view of women who are victims of rape. Most people will at least partially blame the woman, but just like with murder, blaming the victim is irrelevant at this point.

To be fair, all the suggestions in this article would reduces chances of rape. Especially about the not raping part, crystal clear. Transparency, that's what most advertisement are lacking.

This is going to sounds bad but. LoL Rapist Buddy System. But seriously I agree, A while back a women came up to me when I was out and said "you can stop rape" than handed me a flyer. I briefly read the flying and it was of those implying YOU might me a rapist and how to stop ect. However the entire time I was stuck on what she had said. "You can stop rape" Well no shit, if I ever saw anyone being abused or assaulted I would get involved. I mean its not like I'd just walk by that, I wouldn't beable to ignore something so terrible.

"Stop murder! Don't murder people!"

There are people who essentially do this by intervening in conflicts to keep them from escalating to the point of violence. There are also people who do similar things by trying to challenge the attitudes that tend to lead to violence. Not everyone who commits or would commit murder is an unstoppable train that's going to get to the murder station no matter what you do.

You can't stop rape by telling society not to rape people, because there's always going to be that small group of individuals that are going to rape, or commit crimes, regardless of how many times they are told not to.

Similarly, not all rapists are unstoppable rape machines, and there's still value in doing something that can stop some rape even if it won't stop all rape.

The only way to stop rape is to give people (in this case, women) the knowledge to defend themselves against a rapist.

This isn't going to end rape either. Even if we ignore the problems with rape that doesn't involve physical violence, you're never going to get to the point where every potential victim is capable of defending themselves against every potential rapist.

It's quite clearly satire. It's making fun of the ridiculous advice people give rape victims. For example, when the poster says:

"Carry a whistle!"

It's pointing out how stupid it is to expect women to carry whistles around in case someone rapes them in the street.

The buddy system you mention is making fun of how stupid it is to expect women to operate on a buddy system, never to walk alone, etc. etc.

You're blown away by the ignorance of this poster because you haven't understood it's purpose.

The poster is giving ways to STOP rape. To stop rape means that rapists need to stop raping. Most lists only give ways to REDUCE rape, such as learning self defense, carrying pepper spray, etc. These don't stop rape, but merely reduce rape. That is the point of this poster.
