If 97% of mass shooters were women, people would be talking about how society is fucked up causing these women to lose their poor minds. That they need more social support and mental health services. It's a huge tragedy for women.

You've given very little to work with here. That term is very problematic, even if you allow for the most solid/charitable definition.

Do harmful gender expectations play some role in the mental health issues of boys and men today? Sure, as long as the concept is not used to dismiss actual real-world issues and situational distressors.

Is "toxic masculinity" a good way to express all of that? Probably not.

Most mass shooters might be men, but the vast majority of men are not mass shooters. It’s no different than discriminating against all blacks because blacks proportionally commit more crimes. It’s guilt by demographic association. By the same logic we should have a good woman project that teaches all women to be better citizens because more mothers kill their young infants than fathers do.

Holding all men accountable for the small minority who commit crimes is like holding all people with dark brown hair responsible for the atrocities of Hitler. again, it’s a guilt by association fallacy argument.

Masculinity isn’t toxic. The term is typically used to bash men under the pretense of caring just as another user correctly stated many of these supposedly pro male groups are simply covert feminism. We see the same with some men’s rights college classes, that are in reality taught by feminists who are telling men how evil they are.

“Toxic masculinity” is a pop psychology term that has no place in the DSM-V or any uncompromised professional psychological literature. It was engendered in marketing departments and spread through the degenerate bowels of the culture faster than an X-Lax infused vodka cranberry. Ignore it, don’t give it credence. The only thing toxic are the media sources disseminating this garbage, and rule number one is to shut out MSM for your own psychological health.

It was designed after the Spearhead came out to redirect traffic from MRA/MGTOW websites. MRA's went full on attack, at the time, and shut it down in the comment sections. Ultimately, it failed. The manosphere continued to grow on Reddit and YouTube.

There is only two writers on that project who are not feminist. Andrew Pain and Ally Fogg. They are activists and care about men and boys.
