Just another NPC.

These "points" have been countered many times over, but we're still waiting on the latest dialogue patch to drop.

~ Men actually get custody when they seek it.

One; Survivor bias. (which he later goes on to claim isn't a thing, along with denying any court bias, preferring to blame men like a good little Feminist.)

Two; "custody" in this case can refer to any level of custody, including the extreme of "one weekend a year". Further, presenting this as "when fathers actually seek custody they get it in 94% of cases." is horrendously disingenuous. It also leaves out the occasion where the mother refuses to participate in joint custody (potentially with zero consequence).

Three; As far as I understand, the reason why many men don't seek custody is on the advice of their lawyer, not some random internet comment. Of course, it's easier to just make up some bullshit that fits your narrative...

Dude also presented a heading as proof of what the heading claimed. smh

Sometimes I wonder if it is fair to be harsh to these people since they are clearly suffering from some kind of cognitive deficiency...

the first point; this dude can't even see his own highlighted text - or insists upon misrepresenting data by adding numbers that shouldn't be added together.

Depending on state, primary custody usually refers to where the child "lives" and spends the most time. When I was growing up, I saw my dad evenings 1 day a week, and every other weekend at his place.

Meanwhile, joint custody is usually about decision making regarding the child; which school they go to, whether they go to summer camp, medical decisions, etc., that a joint custody case would enforce that both parents must agree on. This means you can have primary custody (majority of time with the child), but also have joint custody (both parents agree on major things for the child).

Adding the two numbers together is a rather disingenuous way to show the data; it'd be more accurate to say it the way the article the idiot had highlighted had it written - they aren't "the same" custody type, legally or otherwise, and simply being all "29+65=94, therefore fathers get custody 94% of the time!" is just... stupidly wrong, and that idiot only really showed that they deeply don't understand the difference or the legal definitions.

Can we get some details? This technically violates rule #4.

How does this violate a rule about different subs?

I'd've let it go if the post itself said more, but it's just a link.

No the problem is, men have FAR WORSE problems than women. Start listing things women get over men and vice versa. Doesn't take long to figure out.

This commenter claims that men have worse problems than women. His example of this is custody cases which is ironic because men are actually favoured in custody cases, they just don't seek it very often.

The statewide sample of attorneys who responded to the family law survey had collectively represented fathers seeking custody in over 2,100 cases in the last 5 years. They reported that the fathers obtained primary physical custody in 29% of the cases, and joint physical custody in an additional 65% of the cases.

According to a legal review of Massachusetts courts, when fathers actually seek custody they get it in 94% of cases.

3. When fathers contest custody, mothers are held to a different and higher standard than fathers.

So, there isn't an anti man bias but there is an anti woman bias as the study goes on to explain; When fathers contest custody mothers are held to a different and higher standard than fathers.

But the cherry on top is that men get custody less because they ask for it less, and they ask for it less because they either don't want custody, or they think they're going to lose, and they think they're going to lose because people like this commenter tell them that courts are biased against men.

So congratulations men's rights activists, you are the root cause of your won problem.

Edit: Who downvotes a transcription? 🤣🤣🤣
