The very reports cited to claim men earn more than women for the same job, explicitly state they are not comparing men and women with the same job (or any other controls for that matter), but median incomes of all men and women.

Literally, basic reading and 7th grade math is all that's needed to debunk the pay gap.

It's not a gap between men and women perse. But with mothers and fathers. Women sacrifice their income. Men their free time.

I know I would stay home if I could you can gap my pay any day for that

Thoughts? Well its a typical article with no actual evidence.

Show me a women working the same job, hours etc and then I would be happy to help them get equal pay.

Women in general are not as motivated as men to climb the ladder and add in that women work less hours and pick careers that don't pay as well and that is the reason for the "gap".

Arbitrary claims with no citations and/or opinion/conjecture, or better yet, citing articles with arbitrary claims and/or opinion/conjecture (this makes it look legit, and almost no one bothers checking the sources), are one of the most common tricks used in feminist scholarship. People believe what has been repeated most. Not what is supported by evidence.

How to do proper feminist research

That’s kind of a harmful generalization, don’t you think? I feel like that’s the exact kind of statement that doesn’t help the cause. Where is the proof to back up your statement. Are women really less motivated? Or is it harder for them to climb the ladder.

Also, the study clearly compares men and women in the same job. “In some sectors the gap is even bigger: full-time working women in the senior education sector earn 22.3% less than their male colleagues – that’s equivalent to £13,000 less a year. Female solicitors working full time earn over £10,000, or 20.2% less than their male peers. In both sectors women outnumber men.”

Do women work less hours because much of the child care/ house work is left for them to do?

Where is the proof to back up your statement.

It's anecdotal from all the men and women I know.

Also, the study clearly compares men and women in the same job.

No it doesn't, full time is anyone working over 35hrs a week, are all the people in senior education sector working the same hours have the same responsibilities?

As for solicitors that is a job that has massive differences of salary depending on location, type of law you specialise in and how good you are.

Yes childcare is probably a big reason women work less hours but that comes from the fact a lot of the time women have chosen a career that pays less than the career of their husband/partner and so it makes sense that when one of them has to go part time its the one earning less.
