Part of the problem is it just isn’t worth the cost, why go thousands of dollars in debt for maybe the opportunity for a job.

Learn a technical skill that’s more valuable.

The educational system is geared more towards girls and women men and boys learn better through hands-on experience. Plus modern society seems to undervalue the value of man. Whenever a man tries to succeed there told that they’re displaying toxic masculinity and told they’re bad. This is discouraging a lot of young men from even trying.

These aren’t the only reason that happening but these are some of the big ones.

There used to be a thing called apprenticeship. The employer or union would pay you and train you. Basically, the best way for a man to learn (hands on).

No longer is that true. Corporations began outsourcing the education to the university thereby saving on the cost of training.

Beyond lack of desire for such jobs that need a formal education, the education system is completely lacking in real progressiveness, instead opting for racist and sexist viewpoints and instruction on campus. The only true points of knowledge and understanding expansion in western universities is within the STEM fields and those aren’t of interest to all.

I can only speak for Canada, but a small percentage of it up here is that more men attend technical schools vs. universities, but even with that fact accounted for, by including tech schools as part of 'post-secondary', women are still disproportionately in the majority of all post-secondary students.

So, at least some of it is the accumulated penalty of 92% female grade school teachers and 78% female HS teachers, and the known bias against boys from female teachers in their marking and disciplinary action. When you winnow out a few boys in each year, it ends up adding up by the end of HS. With the bell curve being what it is, i.e. clustered about the middle, dropping the male average mark by even 1-2% results in a significant pool of boys not eligible for university on the lower edge of the acceptance window.

I see two main reasons

Only women are lifted/supported
Men are expected to make money/ be the provider (higher ed costs money in first place, only pays out later ... ~35 )

Because we're out doing shit instead of being ivory tower pseudo-intellectuals. I went and got myself a damn master's degree in counterterrorism studies and then realized that I hated desk work-- like really hated it-- and went back to work as a technician just so I could cut my hands up and fuck up my clothes again.
