Lawrence McKinney, 60, of Memphis, Tenn., was convicted of rape and burglary in 1978 and was sentenced to prison for 115 years. He was released in 2009 after DNA evidence ruled him out as a suspect in the case.

Patsy Bruce served on the parole board that denied McKinney’s first exoneration hearing, and she said she’s still not convinced he’s innocent.

Rape: a crime so heinous that even innocence is no excuse.

No, all prisoners are given gate money when they leave, his just happened to be $75. That wasn't money in exchange from wrongly serving 31 years.

He can now get up to $1 Million in compensation if the Tennessee Parole Board hears his case. The reason they haven't is

That case was rejected because the judge and the district attorney did not provide sufficient evidence that was properly tested

When sufficient evidence is provided to the parole board for his exoneration case they will have a hearing. I'm not saying it's right but this headline is incredibly misleading.

Evidence shows he cannot be the perpetrator.

But the parole board demands proofs of innocence, from the prosecution, for someone who is legally not guilty.

DNA evidence-- evidence!!-- ruled him out as a suspect in the case- meaning that DNA evidence that existed for the case says that he is not someone who should be considered to have committed the crime, based on the evidence, and this person says that "she's still not convinced he's innocent"??

How in the fuck does someone like this get to sit on a parole board?
