One argument that comes up a lot when discussing trans/NB individuals is that pronouns are difficult to remember and that people get angry if you forget them or mislabel them.

The way I see it, remembering pronouns should be considered similar to remembering names. When you meet someone new and they tell you their name, its great if you can remember it but if you forget once or twice then that's fine, maybe a little embarrassing but that's it. Its the same with pronouns, if you mess up once or twice then any reasonable person will be OK with it.

However if someone has told you their name two or three times and you're still forgetting it then that's somewhat disrespectful. Clearly you're not making much of an effort to get to know them. You're not a bad person for forgetting, but it does show that you don't really care about the other person. Its the same with pronouns, if you're forgetting three times then that just shows you don't really respect the other person.

To be clear this is applying more to people you see regularly, like new coworkers for example, people who you should get to know. I'd love to hear people's thoughts on this, it's my first post here so I hope it fits :)
