Should I (20M) have a... "sleeping around phase"?
I don't know how to put this feeling into words but I'm going to try my best.
So, I'm saving myself for my first relationship. I want my first partner to also be a virgin like myself; it's a preference of mine and I'm keeping myself to that same standard because I care about my partners feelings. Also, before anyone comments "insecure misogynist," that is not the case. I respect women and this preference stems from the culture I grew up in and the traditional values that were instilled in me.
Though, recently, I've been seeing online that pretty much all women (at least in college or in their 20's) have been through a "phase." Now, I'll emphasize that this is online and it seems to be the case for 99% of women — contradicting my original assumption that only a few women are like that. Not sure if this is completely true though.
However, for me, this is really discouraging. People say that women have already went through that phase and if they haven't, they'll break up with you and then go at it.
This makes me think that saving myself for one woman is probably pointless in todays generation. The temptation to then sleep around with a lot of women and manipulate them starts to seem like an appealing option. I don't think I'll be letting go of my values so easily but..again, the temptation is standing out now. Also, these manipulative tactics...they fhucking work. I tried them to an extent and it is crazy; I couldn't get myself to continue. I have the idea now that women want emotional pain. Please don't hate me for thinking this but it's simply the conclusion I am arriving towards.
I already have a decent circle of girl-friends. I get along really well with others and have had no problems talking to women at all. Some of who have actually offered me sex but I refused (I wasn't ready in high school to do any of this). I guess through them I can meet more women, etc., because they're not exactly the type to sleep around a lot (but they aren't saving themselves either if that makes sense).
Why do I want to do this? Because I don't want to be the 2nd choice. I don't want to be the guy that the woman "settles down" for after having her fun. I don't want a partner that can sleep with other guys without a second though but then would make me wait. I know this sounds harsh, and I don't intend for this to sound like it. But, it's the best way I can put it.
I'm thinking about deleting this post after getting some replies but, do you think getting some new experience with one person for a few months and then gradually moving on to different people throughout the years is something I should do? Is a "___ phase" worth it or should I stick to my values?
Once again, I apologize if I offended anyone, that was not my intention with this post. I'm just very conflicted. I really do not want to give into what most of society is doing and take part in hook-up culture but I feel like I'll be at a disadvantage if I don't.
