This post is getting lots of downvotes simply because it has Trump in it. Reddit is so petty.

[–]JoeP36[S] 40 points41 points42 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Thought it might. Especially given he tells a woman she's equal to a man, far too reasonable.

[–]lookatmeimwhiteand a flmng homosexual, not that theres anything wrong with that 18 points19 points20 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And defends a man called a homosexual.

"When a man calls you a Bitch a Tramp and a Whore.."

"I never called her a Whore!"

Tramp Bitch XD

Wow, Trump seems really reasonable, even kinda nice here.

Hell, the one that struck me as an asshole is Piers, but then I can't stand that dickweed anyway.

I can't stand Trump either, but this takes my respect for him from a hard 0/10 to a tentative 2/10.

That's a good start.

I take it you're a supporter? Could you indulge someone from across the pond? What's his appeal? I mean, I don't think he's quite the antichrist a lot of people make him out to be, I just find him infuriatingly stupid.

I get that he says he will support the working class and that the working class are really going through tough times right now, and he provided a staunch alternative to identity politics, which is more divisive than most political ideologies. That makes sense to me, and Clinton was no saint either, she was just a more saleable idiot.

To me, US voters were really between a rock and a hard place with that vote.

I just wonder, respectfully, as a supporter, what is it that you like about him? He just strikes me as a hideous egomaniac without the sense to back it up. I mean, he's tweeting incessantly about TV shows and books that make him look bad and stupid shit like that. While I agree with him on some stuff, I'd find it a lot easier to admit that if he didn't carry on like such a paranoid, egotistical arse.

I'm not OP, but it's really because he is advertising what many Americans want. "Immigrants stealing your jobs? We'll build a wall and make Mexico pay for it!" "Jobs getting outsourced to China? Tariffs' on China!" "Islam is a completely backwards ideology and you're importing it here? BAM! Ban on certain countries!" I mean he's done a decent job of working on his promises already and things that have happened after him like all the WikiLeaks, was necessary to show what is going on behind the political curtain.

There's always such a black and white approach to everything in the world of politics. It seems that if you are a liberal you HAVE to hate everything Trump stands for, or if you're a conservative you HAVE had to hate everything Obama stands for.

The actual question is WHY do you hate Trump so much? Most everything you will read or watch about him is tinged by a certain political bias, generally, if you are more liberal ideal aligned you will be viewing liberal media and it will almost always shit on him to no extent. If you are more conservative, you generally will be watching more conservative ideal aligned media and it will almost never shit on him.

While I agree that he isn't perfect, I don't like the way he tweets, it definitely isn't written to sound professional. Sometimes his arguments come off a bit rambled (which I think has to do with the fact that he gets flustered when he is put on the spot) and sometimes he lacks a filter (which mainly occurred well before he ran for president). The thing is, he is a human being, so you can expect this - and while I prefer my president to be eloquent in the way he speaks or be able to find a way around getting flustered easily when presented with something out of the blue - to me, it's much more important that what he does is right by my economy and by my own personal ideals.

Everything he has done so far has been (in my opinion) either kinda iffy, alright, or good - nothing bad so far. Some things Obama did were bad, kinda iffy, or alright - but nothing great. These just have to do with my own political beliefs.

I don't think you should judge him based on the way he talks on liberal media or how he tweets. His dialect doesn't determine his ability to run a country!

I absolutely agree, it seems like everything is so polarized in politics, and the left and right wing have a horrible habit lately of responding to people who show a hint of agreement with a politician of the other persuasion with straw-manning and shaming. That's why I don't identify with either side. I put myself firmly in the middle ground. Hell, tonight I had a discussion with my (very leftist) dad, in which he said my opinion that people shouldn't be subjected to surveillance and thought policing no matter what their opinions are is very "worrying" and "extreme", then he went on to defend eugenics in that, in his opinion, people with low IQs should not be allowed to vote. That was a real eye opener. When you go so far in either direction, the sides are indistinguishable.

In terms of why I hate Trump, I don't hate him as a person. I don't know him as a person, but I guess it could be said that I hate him as a politician. I hate him as a politician because I think he's doing a lot of damage to international relationships for no good reason. He's doing exactly what I give the left a hard time for doing: categorising people and playing identity politics. Sure, he's looking out for American interests, and that's what an American president should do, but he's far too undiplomatic and blunt when it comes to dealing with foreigners.

I think he's doing exactly what he was elected to do, but he has no charisma, and he does himself no favours by tweeting all the time with laughable spelling and grammar. I think the reason I hate him as a politician boils down to his ego. He's far too self assured and out of touch with the average person. It seems like he expected a position of absolute power, a position that doesn't come with presidency of the USA. Ultimately, he just strikes me as a bully, and an unintelligent one at that. I think it's important for a head of state to look out for the state, and he's doing that, but he's doing it in such an uncharismatic and heavy handed way, that I'm left with little to respect him for. He doesn't feel like a leader, just a bullying meathead.

A leader should do what they set out to do, but when their ego takes over, and they don't have charisma, it's hard to get behind them. He may do what he said he was going to do, but without charisma, a leader doesn't have much to distinguish them from a tyrant.

I voted for the guy, and it came down to a few things:

  1. I found the egotistical thing refreshing. I don't believe for a second that ANY presidential candidate doesn't have God complex, so it's nice to at least have one be honest about it.
  2. Related to number 1, and I know I'm gonna catch heat for this, but there really is a crisis of masculinity in US culture. Many (myself included) think that too many of our recent male leaders have been too deferential to 'crocodile tears' agitators playing on people's emotions. So the idea of someone with the balls to say 'sit down and shut up you spoiled children' is quite appealing.
  3. Liberals HATE him with an unhinged passion. So there's an element of 'enemy of my enemy.' I am libertarian, and would have preferred Ron Paul in a perfect world, but you work with what you've got.
  4. Related to number three, the media just lied and lied and lied about him. I started off thinking the guy was a joke, but time after time the latest attack on him by the media turned out to be probably false, taken out of context, or willfully misinterpreted. And I wasn't exactly reading breitbart. It got to the point where the media had zero credibility left with me, and I figured anyone so hated by such unprincipled pieces of shit can't be all bad.
  5. Clinton was such an obvious enemy of liberty, prosperity, and so fucking corrupt, that I would have voted for a ham sandwich before her.

Time will tell whether he does a good job, but it was a 'lesser of two evils' scenario, and it'll take a lot before I'm convinced I chose the wrong candidate.

Sorry for the late reply, but these boardroom meetings last for hours. Only a few minutes make it on to the show.

Hillary Clinton, this annoying cunt, Rosie O'Donnell, the woman he said "[you'll get paid just as much] if you do just as good a job", all those women who accused Trump with no evidence -- whether you like Trump or hate him, you gotta admit he's provided this sub quite a bit of fuel.

That's my favorite TV show host!

Me too! I see him all the time now on White House 2017! And for some reason the press won't stop talking about that show. I hope Fox doesn't cancel it like they do everything else.

Best part:

I asked him to go away, but he keeps coming in my face.

You know she heard it when she said it.

Right around 10 minutes in.

Ok ok. I get it. Reddit hates the trump. And thats cool. Not a problem there. Not a fan myself. But can we, for the love of all that is holy, not be so obnoxious and immature about it? I mean, this post has really nothing to do with trump, but that didn't stop you from going off on such an irrelevant tangent. This is what I see when I see comments like yours come out of left field:

Friend-"hey, reddit! Wanna go get a bite to eat??"

Reddit- "naw, that's ok, but have you fuckn heard about how much of a cunt trump is???!!!"

We get it. Now go and talk all the shit you want about Trump where it belongs, in /r/adviceanimals.
