"I was really young and ignorant" she was 20 no ones fault but her own

[–][deleted] 189 points190 points191 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Come on, we've all made mistakes and joined a radical Islamic terrorist group when we were young and impressionable, shit happens

[–][deleted] 63 points64 points65 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You're right. When I was a kid, I once got caught smoking behind the house. Smoking, joining ISIS, same thing. We've all been there.

;p

[–]stacker55 22 points23 points24 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

if 90s-00s drug propaganda is to be believed, smoking does support terrorism

[–]xRisingSunx 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

That shit did more harm than good. You know damn well there were some retarded fucks out there who said

"Well I already smoked Marijuana once, guess I might as well join the Neo-Nazis since I am already on the road to terrorism".

[–]Fsck_Reddit_Again 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Vaping is a gateway drug to isis, you watch out!!!

[–]WhyAmIBlitzd 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I was under the impression that ISIS is what comes after high school but before college

[–]xRisingSunx 10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, they call it a "Gap Year". It's where rich kids like her (daughter of a diplomat) go travel the world to find themselves, experience new cultures, and murder some infidels.

All perfectly normal. Nothing to see here.

[–]TotoAfricaOnRepeat 47 points48 points49 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How many men younger than that died at the hands of those she fucked? And I don't believe for an instant that she didn't participate in terrorist activities. She shouldn't just be denied, she should be tried in that country and face the possibility of hanging.

[–]c-biscuit77[🍰] 20 points21 points22 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You’re trying to tell me you’ve never been radicalized by online terrorist propaganda to the point that you moved to the other side of the world and joined the worlds most prominent terrorist organization? Give the poor child a break dude.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Does this mean that I shouldn't defect move to North Korea?

[–]c-biscuit77[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You definitely should.

[–]EEEGuba69 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women are just children with tits, you know that

[–]ShitTalkingAlt980 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Except this exceptionally dangerous to let a country exile you and strip you of citizenship. There are very few instances where that happens. This was about letting her in the country and the judge just unilaterally declared her a non-citizen which she isn't.

[–]DeadpoolYEAH 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She didn't just get up and leave for a gap year and made a mistake while there. She wanted to bomb America or at least others to do so, then left to join ISIS, where who knows what she has done.

[–]ScarredCerebrum 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Indeed. Furthermore, committing treason against your country is pretty much the legitimate reason for stripping someone of their citizenship. This has been established practice for as long as that citizenship has existed, and it's still maintained in much stricter ways that that people usually realize. (hell in my country, the Netherlands, you will actually lose your citizenship if you join another country's military - even if that country is an ally, like say, France)

And let's not forget that IS is an organisation that wore its atrocities on its sleeve (remember when IS execution videos were all the rage? I do), and that even al-Qaeda denounced IS over its brutality.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree she should be punished...but revoking citizenship is a little much...maybe life imprisonment

[–]louisb1304 66 points67 points68 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Can we (in Britain) borrow your federal Judge to see to Shemima Begum's Citizenship questions?

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points27 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

sounds like, as of last month, yall still are not letting her in. Great job, UK. :)

[–][deleted] 60 points61 points62 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

She quite literally wanted to go be a cum dumpster/baby factory for her Caliphate (her preferred form of government) and then come back to let us take care of her and her baby. She was going to come home and isolate herself in a Muslim community and keep her head covered, not speak to outsiders, and raise her baby on welfare. And she got DENIED.

[–]980tihelp 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

question is if they let her back in but not the baby, do you think she would have stayed there to take care of the baby?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Its fun to think about for sure. I bet she would leave her baby, personally. Where she lives has to be a type of hell compared to Deerborn Michigan, or whatever.

[–]980tihelp 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed but I'd like to think she wouldn't ......

[–]ihurtmyangel 47 points48 points49 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, that wanting to kill Presidents part kind of gets the government all defensive

[–]juksayer 10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She took der job!

[–]Free_kittens2468 34 points35 points36 points 6 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

I think it's fair to say that if any any American literally leaves the country to fight alongside a terrorist organization they should lose there citizenship, birthright or otherwise.

[–]Diorama96 20 points21 points22 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Traitors should get their citizenship revoked and that’s it.

[–]justameesaa 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Well, I think I'd rather bring her home, and put her on trial for this old thing they used to call"Treason". Just imagine what would happen to our body politic, if we started having treason trials for people who work against the best interests of our nation.

[–]xRisingSunx 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Just imagine what would happen to our body politic,

Feminist protests outside the courtroom for miles, Buzzfeed and other online shitrags claiming she was "coerced", that somehow she is both a "strong, independent, intelligent women" but also "completely retarded and gullible" to the point that she had "no-idea what ISIS really did".

[–]980tihelp 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

nah because she would be living on taxpayer money for the rest of her life in prison

[–]Poundcake9698 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not if you assess treason as a capital punishment

[–]SkidNutz[S] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I thought that the penalty for treason has always been death.

[–]ItsIntoTheTrashIGo -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reported for antisemitism.

[–]ShitTalkingAlt980 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Cool, declare an actual war and we can get traitors again or continue to subvert the Constitution and treaties for legal/political expediency.

Also, /u/free_kittens2468 why stop at leave the country? Why not all Americans who join a terrorist organization.

[–]Free_kittens2468 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Easier to define them as terrorist when they're not in the country anymore. Gives more credence for removing citizenship. If someone joins a terrorist organization, but doesn't leave. Then I believe they should be tried as an American.

[–]Lomunac 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Than few hundred thousand of your own troops that invaded souvereign countries under false pretences should be included... ?

[–]Free_kittens2468 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

In what sense? If your saying our endless forging wars are useless, money fires that make America hated across the world then yeah I agree, I wouldn't blame the soldiers sent there tho

[–]Lomunac 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Yup... You don't even choose anymore, we were defenders of Europe from islamic caliphates since 1300's, were under a caliphate occupation since 1462-1878, were your alies in every war, then we accepted some refugees in 1945, which by 1997 became a majority in a small province of ours, started openly making ambushes for army patroling the borders (that province borders 2 countries), police, even civilians... To kill or HARVEST FOR ORGANS TO SELL TO YOUR RICH PEOPLE, our women to be sex slaves in western brothels, mined and blew up our churches, some from 1100's (!!!! And remember when were you "discovered"...)...

And then we fought back more then 2 YEARS into those attacks, and you stroke a deal with them, made a false flag attack that 3 international reporters present DEBUNKED, and 2 international medical team investigated and also DEBUNKED, and yet you still attacked us!? YOUR ALY to support islamic terrorists who are btw largest importers of drugs into Europe and have one of the worlds most numerous mafias (from a nation of just 5-5,5 milion), and then took 1/7th of our country and gave to them, ours guests that we gave refuge to... How do you expect to be liked by us, not to mention be on your side ever again??? BTW, they were ALWAYS on the oposing side, on the caliphate invading Europe (which brought them here), on the Axis side, and they were again on the side of evil in 1999 and you took THEIR side....

Only because she's being forced to. She aint doing that shit willingly.

[–]xRisingSunx 15 points16 points17 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In addition to dismissing a lawsuit, Walton also ruled that Muthana's father, Ahmed Ali Muthana, could not provide financial support to his daughter or grandson without being subject to charges of providing material support of terrorism.

That was the best fucking part. Just rubbing salt in the wound right there LOL. Best denial I've seen in a long time.

Nice "Samurai Jack." reference. Love that season.

[–]thesyndrome43 17 points18 points19 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I don't even understand why they do it in the first place, like they see an advert online that says 'come to Syria to become a breeding sow for a terrorist group! You'll marry someone you don't know and who likely doesn't give a shit about you, then when he dies we will just pass you on to someone else so you can keep pumping out human cannon fodder for us!' And this somehow makes them decide that is a great idea?

The child is innocent and i hope it has a good life, but the mother needs to face the consequences of her choices, she had already been a legal adult for 2 years before she decided to join Isis, she can't blame it on being young like she is trying to

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There is obviously some indoctrination from parents here, even IF they are not full blown saying to join the fighters. Their parents, on some level, are advocating for a Caliphate. Then the kids are sort of "led to the water" so to speak.

[–]Yumzie99 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You do know that children can think and make decisions for themselves. Doesn't always mean the parents put them up to it. E.g- Child killers... I'm sure their parents weren't murderers or into watching murders

[–]Thatcsibloke 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]ajossi83 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

With the way the courts are stacked with liberal judges and juries, I don't want her having her day in court. I'm looking forward to reports of her torture by her former husbands and Muslim brothers.

[–]SC2samspends too much time spreading u/cicero44's ass cheeks apart 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was against it at first because it said she was a US born citizen but then it went on to explain that she was only considered a US born citizen because of her fathers diplomatic status which had actually been revoked before she was born. The US wasn't made aware of that fact until after the fact which means she doesn't qualify for the US citizenship. Glad to see that they were able to finally prevent one terrorist from re-entering the nation. She obviously hated the US so she obviously doesn't deserve to rejoin it.

[–]HWGA_Gallifrey 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The terrorist group she joined killed and enslaved thousands of people. Stay there and rot.

[–]Zozorrr 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And raped, and murdered people for their sexuality, and enslaved and murdered people because of their beliefs. And all of this, all of it, was already public knowledge before she rushed over there to help them any way she could. Bless her heart.

[–]NeverNeverLandIsNow 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well she made her bed now she has to lie on it and I would think at 20 she should be able to reason out that joining a terrorist group is a bad idea, so young and ignorant is not a good excuse.

[–]RoadmanBD 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She'll just throw her passport away and enter europe(sweden) as a paperless refugee, we just cant get enough of these rocket scientists, brain surgeons and kebab technichians

Syrian/Lebanese American here. Fuck her, live with the consequences of your actions. You betrayed your home country (USA), traveled to and attempted to help a barbaric horrible terrorist group ruin another beautiful country (Syria).

You should be tried for treason, Kus Oumek ya 7mara

[–]MrThumbsnBums 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This goes so far beyond the ol' "Young and ignorant" defense. She committed outright treason. She encouraged radical muslims to kill Americans and tried to radicalize moderate muslims. She turned her back on the country that let her in and gave her so much opportunity. I would honestly be OK if she faced a firing squad.

So Hoda, I hope you enjoy the rest of your life in a shit filled dirt hut in Yemen. I hope you live with a mild to moderate case of persistent Cholera for the rest of your short pathetic life. I hope you have a Southern Living magazine in your shit filled hut so you can look through pictures of great American homes and think about what could have been.... If only you hadn't renounced your citizenship, turned your back on the country that took you in and called for the deaths of innocent Americans. Finally, I hope every page of your Southern Living magazine is used to wipe your dirty asshole, and just like your life, I hope it shrivels up in the hot Yemen sun, in a dirt hole, covered in shit.

[–]MoodySpidey 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reminds me of my lovely country, woman joins ISIS cos of lover, begs to come back....and our government is allowing her back. Locals are rioting where she is said to be returning to live in

[–]Thatcsibloke 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I simply don’t understand the mindset of these infantile twats, so I will spell it out here.

By joining ISIS or supporting it in its endeavours to be a sovereign state she has effectively renounced her citizenship, this goes for the bozo that left the U.K. too

If she wishes to go to the USA then all she has to fucking do is go to her ISIS passport issuing office and get a legitimate ISIS passport. Apparently, according to lots of people who have been killed by missiles and snipers, ISIS is a legitimate state. I think God agrees, though I am not sure, because my sources are biased.

When she has done so she merely applies for a visa to go to the USA. It is a fact that ICE are actually quite friendly and they will view her application in a mature and balanced way.

If the ISIS passport office no longer exists, then she can wait until it is rebuilt. In a fucking tent, and reflect upon the fact that so many people were murdered and raped because of people like her.

Terrorist enablers can piss off.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s kinda a shitty story for her 2 year old son, who can’t go to the US either because of her mom. On top of that he can’t receive aid from his grandfather (or from anyone in the US) without them getting charges of supplying materials to terrorists

[–]taco_cop 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

People need to remember that actions have consequences. Oh well. When I was younger I was angry too, but I didn’t join a terrorist organization and bash the country.

....you can't plead ignorance for joining a fucking terrorist group who multiple countries were at war with for years, murdered a shit ton of innocent people, and committed a shite ton of crimes.

[–]danhab992 points 6 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

In all honesty I'd let her in. Then charge her with treason and lock her up for 50 years. I think that would do it. You wanna be American, suffer our consequences.

[–]Some_Nibblonian 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

All personal feelings aside, is is actually pretty serious. Revoking someones citizenship... Curious to see where this ends.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It wasn't revoked she never had it to start, children of diplomats are not given citizenship when they are born here. She was born after her dad was done serving as a diplomat, but they didn't inform the US until after she was born. So it wouldn't have been given to her anyways, the trial was to challenge that saying that she should have been given citizenship since, her father wasn't an active diplomat even though he was still listed as one to the US.

[–]ajossi83 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She was never a citizen to begin with.

[–]Fsck_Reddit_Again -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its not because she joined isiss, her father wasnt diplotmatic at the time, so they ruled it was invalid.

[–]KiteLighter -4 points-3 points-2 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I'm confused... her parents were citizens, so she is, right? Fox News didn't provide understandable details, which I don't find surprising.

[–]lucia-pacciola 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

According to the linked article, her father was a Yemeni diplomat at the UN. Children born of diplomats don't get automatic US citizenship. Where it gets weird, though, is he left his UN job before she was born, but didn't notify the US government until after she was born. The judge ruled that this meant he was still a diplomat in the eyes of the US, when she was born. Therefore, she is not a US citizen. This makes sense, but is gonna get appealed for sure.

I wish the judge had figured out a way to rule that she stopped being a citizen when she joined ISIS.

I did read that in the linked article, but it still isn't clear. Children born to US diplomats are not automatically citizens, unless their parents are citizens. So whether the beuracracy correctly knew whether he was still a diplomat or not shouldn't matter - either way, if the parents aren't a citizen, the child isn't.

The article doesn't just clearly say that the woman was or wasn't a citizen before she joined ISIS.

What are you taking about? Her father was a Yemeni diplomat in the US, not a US diplomat. For many decades, foreign diplomats children born in the US have not been able to avail themselves of 14th Amendment birthright citizenship, ie she wasn’t a citizen of the US when she was born in the US. Unlike children of anyone else born in the US, with citizen patents, non-citizen parents, or undocumented parents, birthright citizenship doesn’t extend to foreign diplomats kids.

Ah! That was the detail I was looking for.

Regardless of the status of her citizenship at the time, when she left the US to serve enemy combatants she willingly revoked her citizenship. If they brought her back to the US, she would be tried for treason. They are doing her a favor by not allowing her to come back, and she's too ignorant to realize it.

Does it work that way? I don't think your citizenship is automatically revoked when you sign up for a mean militia somewhere foreign. Can you show me a citation for that?

But I agree, she'd be probably be tried for treason... I guess. I've heard a lot about about the technical requirements for that, and I'm not sure they apply. But she'd certainly end up in jail, so you may be right that we're doing her a favor.
