I was on the verge of being a recluse. I “hated” myself. Well as much as one that loves themselves can hate themselves. I blamed everyone around me for my problems and felt like God was cursing me.

Now. I am more responsible and own my actions. I like taking the lead. I think if i told anyone at my work I am an extreme introvert they would laugh. I believe if I work hard enough, I deserve a better lot in life. Failure to achieve that is in me for not trying hard enough. I also learned that God hates beta men and wants all men to take up their God given mantle and become men.

As a result, i am happier in my life. My dead bedroom got the lazarus treatment. I now make 25% more. Own a home. Built up my strength. And best of all, I actually like who I am. No More Mister Nice Guy chameleon here.

Introversion extroversion. Anything changed since you became more alpha?

I've gotten far less extroverted, just by din of learning how to observe. It's amazing what you hear when you start listening.

Also, over the years many of my co-workers have commented that I'm scary accurate in assessing peoples character. I sometimes refer to it as "Spider Sense."

What happened to the emotional life?

The drama levels dropped. Now I'm also a pretty angry dude at times, and it's been a constant struggle to control that. It's still there, but more under control.

For instance: the Bible says a wise man sees trouble coming, and avoids it. I had a girl a while back that I thought I might have a go with. She was in good shape, the right age, and apparently attended church. Attractive and perpetually complaining about not being able to find a boyfriend at her age was kind of a red flag, so I exercised caution. Heard her on the phone dropping the F bomb regularly while talking to someone about how she had gotten black out drunk and wound up in bed with some guy she didn't know. No thanks, I'll pass.

Now in my younger days. I might have jumped right on that because she checked all the boxes. Nowadays I know enough to keep it light and give things some time for the mask to slip off. That's called having your emotions and urges under control.

Extroverts tend to have less affective empathy compared to introverts. Where are you?

I always considered empathy the ability to read another persons emotions, vs sympathy which is actually caring about another person. I'd say my empathy is pretty high, but I'm more selective about who I have sympathy for.

In a previous career a mom might show up going nuts because her kid flunked out of college and was there trying to get into our school. In that case I empathize with the woman and realize she's upset because the kid flunked out. On the other hand, I don't have any sympathy for her because she's swearing at some of my people for something her kid did elsewhere. Therefore she gets shown the door by security.

The same pattern tends to emerge elsewhere. Kind of "I get it, but that doesn't mean I'm going to tolerate negative behaviors."

I believe to a small extent there is some truth to the whole introvert vs extrovert thing. Regardless of that I act as if it is not true. I do this to avoid a self-fulfilling prophecy. In the event it is false or not as significant as it's made out to be I am on the side that has nothing but gain
