I was reading 'Daring Greatly' by Brene Brown and was struck by how feminine vulnerability is. I was raised in a home where people weren't vulnerable, just angry, so it's something I need to encourage in myself. I see so many of my relationship problems stem from lack of vulnerability. It's hard to enjoy sex if I can't be vulnerable. It's even hard for me to tell my husband 'I appreciate you/that you did X/whatever' because I expect it to be turned around on me ('If you appreciate me so much, why aren't you doing x/y/x?!') But that's baggage from an old life, and in our marriage my husband leaves me a lot of room to be vulnerable. So I need to stay in the present instead of dragging the past wherever I am.

Related, I've been focused on accepting his advances lately. In the past I had a hard time doing so, due to the fear of vulnerability and also because my head was so far stuck in the past or the future that I couldn't really be in the present. So we've had a lot more sex in the last week or so, and I've been enjoying it a lot more. Plus I feel like getting laid regularly makes me look younger. Or at least, not as stressed :P

For Christmas I asked my husband to make some donations to some charities. Despite doing so, I think he was disappointed that I didn't have anything to open on Christmas day. Gifts aren't really important to me so I've kind of blown the concept off, but I think the act of gift giving is important to him. So I need to have an Amazon Wishlist or something for future celebrations.

So that's my rambling for now.
