Hi, I wasn’t too sure about where to ask to this. I’m a RP 23 year old and I live with my boyfriend. He’s a bit younger but very mature, career- driven, and responsible. I’ve never really struggled with my self image a lot, just my weight and legs. A year ago I was in an emotionally abusive relationship where my ex would tell me daily I wasn’t pretty enough and that I was fat and dumb. When we broke up he admitted behaving like that because he felt intimated. I believe i may have carried those thoughts into this relationship. My boyfriend is a photographer and having a body dysmorphic disorder I’ve started to focus a lot on my weight and appearance. I’m 5 foot 3 and i weigh around 95 pounds, I always take care of myself and am sure to look as good as possible. I’m very demure and feminine and my boyfriend acknowledges this. He always says I’m not like most girls he knows and that he likes how I always look nice and that I support him and everything he’s doing with his career. I’m not a jealous girl, I know I’m attractive only recently he took photos of his friend who is very thin and pretty and more photogenic than me and that’s had me thinking I’m not good enough or thin enough and it’s affecting our relationship. I don’t know how to change it and I’ve tried talking to him about it but I don’t know how. I’m not sure what my question is I think maybe I just needed to vent. But this has had me feeling awful ugly and I don’t know how to deal. I’m worried about my weight because despite my small frame my legs aren’t as thin as I’d like. I worry about my nose and so many things and I’ve felt really upset. Any advice?
