Hi, at the weekend I'll be going on my first proper date. In the past I guess I've had one 'romance' with someone when I was 16 - it was more like sneaking around, him lying to his parents so he could see me. Just dumb teenage stuff. I'm now 19, first year and a virgin, but with some sexual experience. I didn't do any other dating as a teenager as I wanted to find the right person first.

I haven't ever had a proper date before. We'll be going to a politics conference, going out to eat, then a classical concert with a musician I love. We met while campaigning for our local elections, where I was quite shy as I hadn't ever done anything like that before. He introduced me to some of my country's cabinet ministers, and we talked about all sorts of things, not just politics. He was so lovely and I'm so excited to get to know him more! We agree on a lot of things and he's quite funny too. He's a 2nd year university student studying politics, dresses smartly and a little flattery.

I'm nervous - what if I run out of things to say? I don't know what to wear either. Something smart but also feminine? How do I act? What on earth do I even talk about? He's so sweet and I hope I don't mess it up at all. Any general first date advice is hugely appreciated
