Hi all, I’m new to being a RPW and need some advice on a recent fight with my boyfriend. In the spirit of owning my shit, the way I acted was embarrassing. I blamed everything on him, raised my voice, put him down, etc. It was truly awful. I have a temper but it’s never gotten that bad. Why was I in this state to begin with, you may ask. The answer is even more embarrassing: I felt he was being dominant enough/leading me/taking charge. The obvious answer here is that if I want him to be dominant, I have to be submissive. I see that now. I was conflating submission with doing chores, cooking and cleaning, etc, but my attitude was domineering and running the house. Since this argument, he’s pulled back majorly. I’ve deeply apologized for hurting him, booked a therapy appointment to start getting my temper under control, and sat with my thoughts (which is where I came to the above realization as to what submission really is and how I was acting). Ladies, how would you make this right? How do I really internalize and understand submission? How do I let go of my need to control? How do I heal his wounds and bring him closer to me while still honoring the slight space he needs to heal from this? How do I heal myself (I’m still a ball of nerves and anxiety)? For a little context, I’m the sole provider, which I think influences the situation. We live in a major US city and I have a very high level finance job, so it just makes sense. He earns doing a job he loves and contributes when he can. I don’t want to push him and I’m happy to use my money to support the one I plan to marry but it’s hard to keep a submissive mindset in the home while I have to be a girlboss type in the workplace. Any advice here? I know this is a bit ramble-y, but I’m still coming down from this awful fight and subsequent awful realizations and not quite thinking straight. Thank you all in advance❤️
