just a sweet anecdote that i wanted to share with you ladies.

last weekend i was looking to buy some bedding and wandered into the store of and older eastern european seamstress. we started chatting, and before i knew it she was sharing all kinds of stories and advice with me. we talked about money, family, love, being a good neighbour, cooking, etc , etc, but what really struck me and reminded me immediately of this sub was when she got onto the topic of children.

she told me that the main reason for all of the divorce and unhappy "problem" kids we see today is that parents have stopped prioritizing each other. "as soon as the babies come along, she will stop being a wife, and become a mother". all kids need in order to be happy, she said, are parents that adore and take care of each other. kids are resilient, and if that need is met, then everything else will fall into place easily. "a happy family is easy to build, you just need to put your husband before anything else."

i thought about it some more, and of the people i know who had unhappy childhoods almost all of them came from broken homes. i'm very grateful today that my parents had such a strong, dedicated marriage.
