Part of having roommates is living more collected. That means wearing headphones, keeping your mess in your room, and splitting utilities. I will almost always wear headphones with certain content, and I don't even listen to certain content in my car if the windows are down. I personally have lost family members over some ideologies, so I've learned how risky it is to let just anyone know your beliefs or things you are exploring. Stop letting them know what you are listening to, and they will stop inserting themselves because they have no opportunity. Welcome to our reality. I would expect this roommate situation to eventually sour, so I suggest keeping your eyes open for new roommates and places to live.

I'm married and I still expect my husband to wear earbuds if he's listening to something in a shared space. I do the same. If they're looking over your shoulder or prying, I'd answer the same way by rote every time: "I'm not looking for feedback." Then continue with what you're doing. If this doesn't work, I'd suggest a new roommate.

Sorry??? but wearing headphones if you’re watching content of any kind in a communal space is just basic respect… it’s simply rude to listen to something others can hear whether they would agree with the content or not. That’s just part of having roommates.

There’s not much else you can do when you’re willingly and intentionally playing this content in a shared space and you’ve already said your bit about it. Next time watch privately or wear headphones, and if they’re still commenting (somehow?) then tell them that you aren’t looking for feedback.

Tell them that you dont appreciate being preached to. Let her know you dont try to proselytize her to your way of thinking, so you'd appreciate it if she returned the favor. "Do to others as you'd have them do to you."

Full text: My(22F) flatmate (Aged 18) offers their opinion when I haven’t asked for it. They saw my YouTube feed and didn’t like that most of my content was Red Pilled stuff. They constantly share their opinions on things when I’m having a conversation with my boyfriend (they just insert themselves into the conversation)

I want to make clear that I have told them twice that it’s what I choose to watch in my free time and that respectfully it’s none of their business.

It’s happened a few times now and I need advice on communicating in a non-hostile way that if they don’t agree with it maybe they shouldn’t waste their time commenting on it(especially when not asked for it)

I am at home and do want to feel comfortable in my habits and ways. I don’t want to have to wear earphones all the time.
