So we obviously shouldn't take advice from this woman about STAYING married, but if you want to get married this lady has it figured out.

Except for the part about "have a baby and the husband will come along", I think this is completely spot on.

She wrote a follow up here- more reasons you're still not married

XPost from the red pill. Their discussion is here

[–]FleetingWishEndorsed Contributor-1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Her advice was mostly good, but she clearly has issues with men in general. Maybe that's why she's been divorced 3 times.

Sure, there are lame men out there, but they're not really standing in your way.

It's scaring men off... Female anger terrifies men. I know it seems unfair that you have to work around a man's fear and insecurity in order to get married -- but actually, it's perfect, since working around a man's fear and insecurity is big part of what you'll be doing as a wife.

if what you really want is a baby, go get you one. Your husband will be along shortly. Motherhood has a way of weeding out the lotharios.

For them marriage involves sacrificing their most treasured possession -- a free-agent penis

Because most of the time, your messy, farting, macaroni-and-cheese eating man will not be doing what you want him to.

[–]zipzo1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Is that a direct quote? There are some pretty basic spelling and grammar issues in there. I wonder if anyone at huffpo actually edits anything.

Here's what my son wants out of life: macaroni and cheese, a video game, and Kim Kardashian.

I'm not sure what young boy wants Kim Kardashian.

[–]FleetingWishEndorsed Contributor1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Is that a direct quote?

Yes

I'm not sure what young boy wants Kim Kardashian.

I think it's an allusion to the fact that young adolescent boys are just starting to like looking at pictures of hot women.

  1. You're Selfish. If you're not married, chances are you think a lot about you. You think about your thighs, your outfits, your naso-labial folds. You think about your career, or if you don't have one, you think about doing yoga teacher training. Sometimes you think about how marrying a wealthy guy -- or at least a guy with a really, really good job -- would solve all your problems. Howevs, a good wife, even a halfway decent one, does not spend most of her day thinking about herself. She has too much s**t to do, especially after having kids. This is why you see a lot of celebrity women getting husbands after they adopt. The kids put the woman on notice: Bitch, hello! It's not all about you anymore! After a year or two of thinking about someone other than herself, suddenly, Brad Pitt or Harrison Ford comes along and decides to significantly other her. Which is also to say -- if what you really want is a baby, go get you one. Your husband will be along shortly. Motherhood has a way of weeding out the lotharios.

She had some good (albeit unremarkable) ideas until this one. This is the exact opposite of what a woman should be doing if she wants a man.

[–]Lady_Motido 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Go get you one.

For the love of god, what in the holy hell? Go get you one...at Walmart, corner store, back alley? What does that even mean? And since when has a single mother been a husband magnet? argghh!

edit: grammar

[–]sugarcrushEndorsed Contributor[S] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if walmart started carrying babies. They would be imported from china and kept in the back by the goldfish.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

ooo i want to buy a chinese baby!!!

[–]Pink_acetaminophen1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Ugh. I can't wait to meet the right ugly, short, middle aged man to love and spoil until I die like a normal person. Some part of me wishes I was sarcastic right now but nope.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

ugly, short, middle aged man

have you ever once accused menof being "shallow"? just curious

[–]Pink_acetaminophen0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't think so. It's only normal for people to be attracted to attractive people.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

cool response, tx

[–]TempestTcup1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

I hesitate to take relationship advice from an unmarried, thrice-divorced person, but her bullet points make sense. I didn't read the stuff that wasn't in bold, lol!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

to be fair, you can know the right thing to do and still not be capable of doing it. i know everything about diet, but i still eat bad and gain weight if i dont watch myself like a hawk

[–]TempestTcup1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

i still eat bad

It's all my husband's fault. He's always having me make hot chocolate and pan-popped popcorn with a ton of butter and powdered Parmesan late at night. Bad Man!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes also my husband's fault. All his fault. he beats me and forces me to buy donuts :-(

[–]Lady_Motido 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

Practicing what one preaches can be and is quite the endeavor. I know darn well what I should be doing but I'll be damned if I can do it on some days! I suppose that's what makes us human. My Achilles' heel is exercising, I'm the queen of procrastination when it comes to that.

[–]TempestTcup1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I'm horrified each morning as I realize I have 15 extra minutes before leaving for work - just enough time to go through my workout regimen!

[–]Lady_Motido 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I have the time, it's just the fear of putting out my back as I have done so many times in the past stopping me from even trying. I think I will really give the step exercise another try and pace myself this time. What's your regimen like?

[–]TempestTcup1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not much: 15 kettlebell swings, 15 times on our ancient Soloflex (set up for husband, so I can hardly move it) 15 squats, repeat a few times. It does the job :)

[–]Lady_Motido 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That sounds pretty good too. God I hate squats, but that just means I need to do them even more. We've been wanting to get a Bowflex for quite some time, maybe Santa will bring one this year.

You gals are making it really difficult for me to ignore my lack of exercising...darn it ;)

[–]TempestTcup1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Squats show immediate results with me; if I do them for a few days, my butt perks up like nobody's business. They are just so BORING!!!!

[–]Lady_Motido 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In order to do a complete squat I have to work on stretching my ankle tendons because they are too short. So that makes an extra really boring exercise to add to the mix. Honestly though, I really should take the ten minutes a day to fix this problem, it really isn't that demanding.

Really, you gals are not helping me stand by the really good excuses I made up for myself why I couldn't exercise...quit it already! I can feel my excuse bubble popping!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

i finally workout almost every day because i found step dvd's that i LOVE cathe.com so its just funtime

[–]Lady_Motido 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

those look pretty good. If one were to just do a step program and nothing else, what muscles would benefit? only the legs and maybe butt? I know that the cardio alone would most likely help your entire body but where is it most noticeable? I have a problem with my back and have a hard time finding the right exercise to accommodate this problem. I like exercising (once I get into it) but I always overdo it and end up hurting myself.

I like the wii step exercises and really want to get into the UFC training with my daughters but I keep putting it off for fear of aggravating my darn back.

[–]sugarcrushEndorsed Contributor[S] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This isn't true in every case but quite often strengthening your core will solve back issues. Doing things like squats, pushups, deadlifts, etc. starting with a light weight or bodyweight and increasing.

[–]Lady_Motido 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have done quite a bit of weight lifting and I agree that it is a really good way of fixing back issues but for some reason my specific problem area gets too aggravated. I can put out my back by simply over reaching usually with my right arm; the simple act of pulling on a sweater laid me out for over a week. It's really annoying never knowing what the heck will cause it to happen.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

she has quite a few that are circuits with step and upper body, look into her "4 day split" double cd

her instruction and music are fantastic, they are so fun, i have like 100 of them

[–]Lady_Motido 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I'll certainly be looking into it. These would make great gift suggestions, maybe this year instead of the kids getting me the usual ball of yarn and paint brush they could get me these.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

do you knit?

[–]Lady_Motido 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

edit: oh, yay you beat me to it lol

[–]Lady_Motido1 point 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

They have some really great patterns at Ravelry, I hadn't been there in awhile, now I'm going to lose a few hours going through all the new stuff!

Loving those quilts. How did you get into making those? Self taught, club, family thing? I often thought it would be great to do but it looks like it would take up so much room and I just don't have any to spare. As it is my painting takes up more room than I like.

[–][deleted]2 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Completely self taught from internet about 2 months ago! Just got a bug up my ass Lol. it's a really grueling labor intensive hobby, very pleasing. Not portable like knitting tho. I also cross stitch and needlepoint and used to crochet Black Doilies of Death (tm)

[–]Lady_Motido1 point 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

That's even more impressive, self taught, that's so cool. I like cross stitch and needlepoint too but for some reason I can't seem to crochet. I made one pair of slippers once a long time ago and just can't seem to stick with it. I much prefer to knit.

So these "Black Doilies of Death" are your invention? You're quite the talented crafter. I have got to log out of reddit and just go take the time to read all you gals' blogs through and through. I've read some of your posts but like TempestTcup's blog I just haven't read all of it so I'm sure I'm probably asking things that can easily be found on your blogs.
