Something that has been espoused by quite a lot of PUAs and people who worship game like it is some sort of satanic wizardry and not merely a short of insignificant tool, if you got money, power and good looks (For the record I do not mean that in the puahate "face aesthetics is the only thing that matters" sort of way) is the idea that you need to have "strong inner game bruh" (I am looking at you TylerDurden with the weird hair and cringey behaviour) and the need for positive thinking/happiness/self-love which you desperately attempt to ram down the throat of yourself and throats of your fellow virgins who majestically roam the internet forums with their throbbing keyboards.

I am here to tell you that when you have read the sidebar, you should cut the crap and accept the things you can't change and inevitable failure, read real literature and focus on achieving objectively measurable goals in the money, girls, status and looks categories.

So you ask: "Why do I need to stop telling myself that I love myself and that I am a huge player 10 times in a row while staring at myself in a mirror?" and "But girls at clubs LOVE IT when guys are in state, PUA guru thundercock- who has me convinced that he fucks left and right because he said so on the internet-, has told me so himself, why should I stop being in state?"

Because this:

  • Most self-help books (Yes, PUA books are included in this category) contain either completely banal or just downright false science. To mention two of them: The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and How to win friends and influence people The first essentially tells the reader to figure out what matters to them in life and then go do it, while the latter essentially tells the reader to stop being obnoxious and be pleasant instead. So the whole idea of trusting random people you do not know, who has no credible education in psychology or psychotherapy (Or any other field of expertise that helps you solve people's problems) and who makes money off of "solving" people's misery is bizarre and non-conductive to saving up your money and if that is no problem; having some fucking grit.

  • Cognitive Dissonance: "In psychology, cognitive dissonance is the mental stress or discomfort experienced by an individual who holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values at the same time" what this means is that you feel stressed out if you try and convince yourself that you have already fucked 100+ girls or that you love yourself, when you obviously have not or you do not. It makes you more unhappy.

  • Ironic process theory: try not to think of a white bear, try really hard. The fact is that the more you try to not think of a white bear, the more you end up thinking about a white bear. The implications that this has for you is that the more we try to convince ourselves that we are something, the less we in reality fundamentally believe that we are this. So if you do a hundred affirmations i.e “I am very charismatic”, you will usually believe the opposite because you are reminding yourself that you are the opposite.

So what I suggest that you do instead of:

  1. Get rid of your cognitive dissonances.

  2. Learn acceptance and techniques thereof (i.e stoicism, buddhism).

  3. Always work towards objectively measurable goals (Fitness, money, status and girls).

  4. Learn from experience mostly rather than from books.

  5. If you are hellbent on reading "great books", actually read great books (Such as real philosophy, classical litterature etc.) rather than mainly pseudo-science, PUA theory and self-help.

  6. As a final comment: stop with the goddamn handholding.
