Somewhat inspired by Free Northerner's Omega's Guide, I'll be making some "Absolute Basics" posts in the next few weeks. These are intended for the lowest of the low, the lamest of the lame.

CHICKEN

You can go to the store and buy some. It looks like this.

Take it home, set your oven to 400 degrees. Get out a cookie sheet. Put any of: butter, olive oil, cooking spray on the pan where the chicken will be. Put as much chicken as you want/need on the sheet. When the oven hits 400, set a timer for twenty minutes and put the chicken in. When the timer beeps:

Pull the chicken out. Cut it open. Does it look edible in the middle? If so, you're done. If not, give it another five minutes and repeat.

Dropit I'm worried about E.Coli or something. You should be, some studies have found e coli in like 1/4 of grocery store chicken sold. You combat this by washing your hands after touching raw meat, and cooking the chicken all the way through.

CONGRATULATIONS, chicken is cheap protein, is used in freaking everything, can be cut up for use in salads or enchiladas, and is 'Murican as apple pie. You are one step closer to becoming a functioning human being.

EDIT: surprise, internet happened. This page is now one of the better places on the internet where you can learn Advanced Chicken. Thanks to all commenters.
