Male Nurse here, EMT as well. I'll tell you the world of EMS, Nursing, and Medicine (doctors) is full of both Beta male and Alpha Male persons, regardless of their position in the hospital/field.

Alpha jobs are jobs that you would do if you had a billion $ and didn't have to work. For example, the professor who honestly just loves the shit out of teaching and researching? I'd call that an alpha job. He may only net 65k per year, but he works like 1/3 as much as an i-banker, takes shit from very few people, has solid benefits, and most importantly, is doing WTF he wants with his life. Meanwhile, there's several beta professors who had to fall back onto that profession - researchers who could never make their breakthrough, etc, and don't really like what they do, but they figure its too late to nut up and do something else.

You might say "Well every job is like this. You have beta doctors who are livin' their parents dream, but are miserable, overworked, and sexless. Meanwhile, you have alpha doctors who are doing what they want to do, and love maybe 75% of their daily work."

And you'd be right. If you are doing what you want to do - aka making a living off of your passion - then that is as "alpha" of a career as you will get. There are some careers were no one wants to do them, but since someone has to do them, they receive decent pay. Like say, IT or high volume sales, or coal-mining. No one's passion is to fix minor technical issues that other computer illerate people create on a daily basis, or call 100 people a day saying the exact same thing, etc. This would be a beta job - you were beaten down into that path because you lacked something that would have allowed you to follow your dream path. That's a beta career - you make it possible for the world to run, for others to do what they love, and you toil away, receiving a crumb of the value you create, while someone else spends 1 hr shitting out a rap verse and receives 50k for that.

I agree, being dominant is about actions not appearance nor necessarily physical strength.If you are the kind of guy who is a provider-only no amount of height and muscle can cover that up.

I'm probably gonna be an engineer (more then halfway through college) and if i went around saying i'm gonna get a job and have a high paycheck i'd be seen as the walking wallet.

However, when i say my job will be to solve problems and possibly reshape the world people tend to be a lot more interested in what i'm saying.

Basically it's how you phrase it and how you act about it, and it doesn't hurt to make fun of the moron smacking rivets into wood all day that tries to put you down by talking about how happy he is and how his job is a man's job.

Like OP said, your job does not define your alpha status. Your behaviours and outlook do. That being said, there are "alpha" and "beta" stereotypes attached to many jobs. A ruthless fighter being beta would be far from your first thought.

You're more or less spot on. And if you've been here for any length of time, the consensus is women love money and status much more than looks. Like I said to that user -- A lawyer or a doctor armed with frame or game has a soaring SMV compared to a felon or blue collar guy, nothing makes anyone inherently alpha or beta, time and again the TRP endorsed guys have to explain that anyone can be alpha or beta at a given moment in their life.

Your career is for you. Women don't belong in this consideration.

Women are attracted to your behavior.

Unless the status of your position is derived from fame, music, or breaking rules/laws, what you do for a living doesn't matter to them.

Learn and implement the resources on game. That's a far more effective endeavor.

Personally I think the most alpha thing would be doing exactly what you want to do, a job that is stimulating, challenging, entertaining and never stops teaching.

Alpha jobs are the ones where people followed their dreams. Successful artist, pro athlete, firefighter, astronaut, business owner.

The beta jobs are the jobs you settle for. Engineer, nurse, admin, IT, electrician, plumber.

We all need to work in boring jobs, but there should always be a bigger picture.

I have to say I disagree with you. You are missing a key point here. While doctor, lawyer, etc. have high social status on paper ... it translates very poorly to attracting women in flesh. At least with women in their most attractive younger years. (aka ones looking for alpha fucks)

These kind of professions with their long mentally demanding schooling attract and further develop overly analytical personalities/skills. Which I find is often in direct conflict with building a "don't give a fuck, outcome independent, live in the moment" alpha persona which attracts women.

I have personally struggled with the above issue. I work as a software designer at a prestigious corporation making a 6 figure salary. However despite scoring such a large income and rewarding career in my early twenties (and decent looks) I found myself absolutely undesired by even the ugliest of girls my age. None of the mental skills I developed were of ANY use when dealing with women. Living my life in the university labs had transformed me into a brilliant problem solver with a natural beta pushover attitude that absolutely repulsed the female gender. I was well on my way to becoming a beta provider in the future. I suppose if I had undertaken more years of school (such as medical school) I would have been a complete loss.

Even an amateur boxer on the other hand would be forced to develop a much more dominant persona. He focuses on the present, the action. He cannot afford to and is discouraged from analyzing every situation. This attitude will seep through every single one of his actions and the chicks lick that shit up.

That is not to say that a doctor or lawyer cannot put in the time and learn these skills as well. Of course they can. But fancy professions by their very nature predispose people to build beta personalities.

As I was probably the poster in question I'd like to raise a few points.

The thread in question was on sperm donor clinics and women's selection of various traits the man has for the maximum potential of their offspring. This was not about individual men but about traits that men in those careers have.

Now I was suggesting that women would want their children to be smart and would want to pre-select for genes that contain intelligence by selecting people from professions which are traditionally seen as attracting those who are highly intelligent like doctors, lawyers and scientists. I may have used the term 'beta bux' when referencing these careers because that is how women see those careers. Someone else made the comparison to some construction worker with a criminal history.

That is not to say there are not doctors or lawyers who aren't alpha. I'm sure there are plenty of them who are and they are probably some of the most successful men in their particular fields. But the fact of the matter is women do not get to meet sperm donors and see their behavior which likely results in more betas being successful when it comes to sperm donor clinics.

PS: I've always said that a man's career should intersect at the points of his skills, passion and what he can get paid for. Find that nexus and you'll find what you will be happy doing the rest of your life.

An alpha job is a high status job. The MMA fighter and the doctor both have high status in different ways - one can kick the crap out of 99% of guys, the other is smarter than 99% of guys. However, having a high status job doesn't make you alpha, but it can contribute to the alpha frame you already have. You can have all the alpha traits you want, but if you flip burgers at McDonalds and live with your mom, that's going to detract from your status.

I agree with OP, a job isn't alpha in and of itself, any guy can theoretically be alpha no matter what he does for a living. On the other hand a job can be more useful to a man than another, in the sense that it helps him lead a more alpha lifestyle than the other job, i.e it provides more pay, fun, DHV, and so on.

To me having an "alpha" job is one where you like what you do and make a lot of money so that you can enjoy life. I am biased but I think being your own boss takes the cake. Doctor/Lawyer/Professor/etc will always have high social value on paper though.

Investigative journalists must have balls of steel and be able to talk their way in and out of situations or face hunger, prison and maybe death. We don't have authority or backing of the government or licence to kill or anything like that we're essentially out here without a paddle sometimes against deranged crackheads or hardened criminal sociopaths. after seeing alcoholic chain smoking ill tempered miserable cunts in the field I assumed that something must have gone seriously wrong. Something that keeps us hunting and looking for a fight. Like greg palast, and absolute nutter, ambushing high powered murderous alpha billionaires and have them running for shelter like common rats.

Then there is the Jeremy paxman type broadcast journalists having to contend with politicians and again the millionaire sociopaths who make a living being the slippery bastards that they are.

Alpha fucks and beta bucks, it's all about your mindset. If you sit back and expect your MD or JD to get the women for you, you're setting yourself up for beta bucks. If you are actively pursuing, gaming, escalating with women then you are the alpha fucks.

I believe that truly "alpha" careers are those that not everyone can do. Anyone can flip burgers at McDonalds, not everyone can perform heart surgery. How many professional athletes are there, compared to the general population? If you are in high demand, thus a position of power, then you are an alpha. Point is, everyone has their own strengths and passions.

Basically, you shouldn't argue whether a doctor or an MMA fighter is more alpha. You should respect both the doctor and MMA fighter for honing their talents in their respective fields. What if the doctor does MMA in his spare time? And the MMA fighter is also an EMT? Then who's more alpha?
