Preselection is the most powerful social force in existence.
No matter how pussy-repellent your hobby might be, get a cute girl to do it next to you and enjoying herself and watch pretty much all shaming from women and men disappear into the wind.

"The maxim, 'All the best men are taken' is doubly true. If a man is already taken by a woman, then by definition, he's the best man -- or certainly a more desirable man. If the exact same man is not taken, then his value is questionable -- he's certainly not as desirable as a man who has already received the stamp of approval from another woman's Detective Agency."

If the exact same man is not taken, then his value is questionable
That's an interesting spin. Once value is confirmed, women go after it more often.

Fads and fashion are based almost entirely on this principle.

They even go so far as to prove it with studies. It's beautiful, isn't it?

So question here: I'm surprised that guys weren't really bothered one way or the other. I like to think there's a code of honor that if I meet a girl and her boyfriend's like right over there then I'm going to leave her alone out of honor/respect for the other guy.
Then I think that other guys wouldn't always do the same for me. Thoughts here on honor?

As far as I know, there isn't some unwritten rule about it. It varies from guy to guy in my experience: some will never take a shot at a girl if she's taken (even if he could easily get her), some will go after girls harder if she's taken, and a lot of guys are somewhere in the middle.
If it suits you to respect another guy's relationship with a girl, then that's what you should do. No one else's opinion should matter. As far as other guys going after your girl, well, we all know what that can be like. Game your girl all the time and make sure that she sees you as a higher value guy than anyone else. You shouldn't have many problems.

It's not about leaving her alone or not, but viewing her as more attractive if she's already "taken" vs not

So let's say I have an attractive female friend.
I ask her to come with the bar to me one night, and just be very flirtatious and act like we're together in order to draw the attention of other women. Would this be the same thing as actual cases of preselection? Gaming the theory, so to speak?
Also makes me think that it might be harder to get women this way if they think you're dating the wing woman.

Yes. A wingwoman is a very useful asset to have.

The wing woman can be a great thing, if she knows what she is doing. I have a female friend with a very beta male "best friend". She has tried to wing for him, but always fails. I haven't seen it in action, but I've got what can be described as "field reports" from them. In my estimation, she is repelling other women by effectively saying she wouldn't date him. Oh, but he's a "nice guy". Wrong answer! Wing women need to act like they want him, badly, but can't have him. "He's such a great guy, too bad he's not into me"... or "too bad he's my cousin" (even if he's not). Great guy, good. Nice guy, bad.

Her appearance isn't the sole criteria -- it will depend very much on the context -- and/or whether she gives off the correct signals.
Hierarchies are present in the female world as well.
With a small percentage of them yes, but generally the opposite will be true of the majority of women. (They would prefer to "steal" someone elses meal rather than to pick up leftover crumbs from the floor).

I inadvertantly discovered preselection several years ago. I had an office job and found out a girl I knew from high school worked in the same building so we chatted a bit and went to lunch together. Being a standard beta loner I didn't really go to lunch with anyone much and didn't have much interactions beyond ordering my lunch from the cashier/waiter.
So while hanging out with this girl I saw that suddenly other girls in the area were looking at me and even going out of their way to walk into my field of vision and trying to make eye contact and smiling at me. I had never experienced that kind of attention in my life until that point.
Of course, it didn't last long. I was still very beta with poor social skills. Never forgot that though.

I don't think he fully comprehends it though, he says once he got "a girlfriend" -- he seems entirely oblivious that it matters very much WHICH girl (and her social circle and status within it).
If the girl he had selected was considered "marginal" (not part of the main female social group) then it would not have had that effect at all, in fact it would have had the opposite effect.
[–]DavidTIntellectual2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah, I doubt having a fat girlfriend would work much in your favour. It might even act as a negative.
[–]1thrownaway_MGTOW3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
She doesn't even have to be fat, she could be slim even attractive... but if she is an "outsider" to the main social clique (i.e. a "loser" in their opinion) then he too will be labeled as "the kind that dates losers", and the effect will not function in the way OP thinks.
BTW, personally I think one has a higher chance of getting a QUALITY woman (one that is at least potentially worth the risks) only by selecting someone who IS NOT part of that "popular" social clique; in part because the members of that clique are far more likely to place the beliefs of the CROWD over and above their own... and invariably that will lead to problems later on (as many have noted, things like "divorce" often seem to operate like a viral epidemic, having little to do with the actual marriage relationship and more to do with the prevailing opinions/actions of the woman's social group -- if the rest of her friends are unhappy and gotten divorced, a woman's likelihood of also being "unhappy" and seeking a divorce herself is greatly increased).
I guess that could be summed up with: Be careful of the power of peer pressure -- it's a double edged sword.
