Even for veterans to TRP, it's always hard to utterly extinguish the thought of finally relaxing in your twilight years with some unicorn. For those who've managed to lose the hope for the unicorn, its replaced by something like "maybe I can train one," "if I can get one while they're still untainted by the CC," or the infamous "if I move to a different country." I'm here to tell you that you're wrong.

But first. Let's look at some data. For a little bit of anonymity, let's just say that I've got some background in economics, not enough to add a fancy acronym to my name, but enough that I've probably spoken about Keynes more than I've called my mother's name. To the point, using the last 70 years of USA census data, I've conducted a time-series regression holding for certain aspects like state constant. With the population as a whole, marital status and times married have a pretty large negative coefficient on income/wage. This should come as no surprise, as TRP is infamous for mentioning the ills of the institution itself, and how demotivating it is for your mental life, not to mention your professional life, when you find yourself in a BP relationship.

What's really interesting however isn't this. What's fascinating is when you parse the data into the separate genders and regress them again, still holding extraneous factors constant. For women, being married and even marrying multiple times has a significantly positive coefficient. This means that for men, the coefficient from either of the two is so negative that it causes the factor to be negative when applied to the total population (proven by its own later regression). If the culture of divorce law and female bias hasn't been painted before, it is now.

But some of you don't like numerical evidence. "I'm special." you think, "I know how to pick them." Good luck is my response. I currently know of two friends of mine. The first is a virgin, doesn't curse, never wears anything higher than the knee, raised conservatively, accepted into every IVY grad program, but still uses Tinder and admits to the fact that "you cant use appearance to judge for friends, but definitely have to for romantic partners." When her friend asked her if she should go to a specific country for vacation she said no. Why? "Don't you know? There are no hot guys there."

The second is fun. Born in poverty, but graduated early with honors and directly entered into a 90k job. Yet she's stuck with a loser bf she dated freshman year whose cheated on her multiple times and uses her like a slave. She loves it. Took out five figures of loans to spend an extra semester with him because he hadn't graduated yet and slept in the same bed with him the same night he brought one of the other girls back with her knowing. He actively looks to hook up with other girls, and her only response is trying to make him jealous using the same method. She told me that her only way to "forget him" is if she dates another guy. With RP, we know that that's not true. At least not until she wastes another 10 years with him, has his baby, and is finally forced to confront the fact that he'll never take her and she needs some BB. Don't be that guy.

Thing is. I probably haven't convinced you. If you believed in NAWALT since the beginning of this article, this probably hasn't changed anything. However, if theres one thing you get from this, make it suspicion. If you can't believe that AWALT, then at least suspect them until they've proven themselves. As Rollo says, "Good Girls are just Bad Girls who never got caught." Hypergamy is innate.

EDIT: For those interested in repeating the experiment since I won't release my data or exact results (I'll be using it in some writing and I don't want to be identified), feel free to do it yourself. My data is from IPUMS-USA, and I used STATA.
