As many guys, I found TRP after being "broken" by many girls. I had a failed LTR of 10 years and then three failed relationship attempts after that. The last one was specially painful, since the girl was gorgeous but pretty fucked up and I developed Oneitis.
As a man with no spine, I was like a bucket of water in the hands of a little girl. My center of gravity was weak and she could do as she pleased. With low effort, she could hit the water and do a lot of damage inside of me.
After a lot of hard swallowing of TRP in the last two months, I just realized that the girls will never change, they will always be the little girl hitting the water. But if I change myself and be a lake, there is nothing they can do that can affect me.
For a lake, a little girl hitting the water is harmless and should not be taken seriously. If for some reason she start to spill oil, she needs to be removed from the lake as soon as possible. And if she leaves, what is a little girl to a lake?
The lake is stillness. Is peace, in every moment.
Edit: I know that this is not a "new" concept. I just figured out that this simple mental image is very powerful and put together a lot of RP/stoicism/mindfulness concepts. I am finding it quite useful in a day to day basis.
