If "sigma and alpha are really just the introversion and extraversion ends of the same spectrum" then I am most definitely Sigma, but at the same time, defining yourself by words like these in my opinion is completely retarded.

Painting a sigma as some kind of 2kool4u super edgy lonewolf strong-silent-type protagonist in your own private movie of a life... This is probably the ruin of every awkward 14 year old. This image is probably also what's going through the mind of every one of those dorks who thinks that wearing a fedora that's two sizes too small for their fat head will suddenly turn them into Humphrey Bogart

I know lots of people get annoyed with the alpha/beta terminology we throw around, particularly anthropologists who insist that alphas and betas don't exist in the human species. We know that these Greek letters are just designations for behavior patterns that we observe in the human species. That said I think that what is described as a sigma here is a harmful myth. Movies aren't real, they're made for entertainment, they're not guides on how to live your life. Other harmful movie myths include the idea of living happily ever after, or the idea that the girl of your dreams is just going to fall into your lap.

Forget about movies, forget about arbitrary definitions. Inner confidence and centeredness, and being comfortable in your own skin are the key elements of being successful. Whether you're extroverted and you're the life of the party, or you're an introvert and you pick girls up in bookshops. It doesn't matter, just do what you need to do and be who you want to be.

It's a huge relief to read this. A significant part of myself is pretty inward (which is where I draw my creative drive/ability to recharge from) and was worried this might impede my progress toward the "alpha path" but as it turns out my essence may just be more inclined toward the ways of the sigma.

The way I see it you need to make sure that you aren't BS'ing yourself into believing you are a sigma when you are just shy. Lots of people get the two mixed up.

So if you're new to all this, go out and get your social skills up to scratch. Get some experience and notches (if that suits your life-style).

Only then will you know whether you really are more of a sigma / introvert or were just afraid of leaving your comfort zone.

I feel you may be missing the intended audience for RedHonest's post. He was addressing a certain kind of man; one who:

need[s] to free [him]self from the delusion that you're choosing to try to be a lone wolf, when you're really just afraid of or intimidated by social groups.

Make no mistake, this is the internet and there are a good deal of social misfits in our midst here on /r/TheRedPill. They are the kind who are likely to read posts like these and take it as justification to avoid learning the social skills that are a necessary component of the Game of Life. "I'm not shy, I'm just an introverted alpha! Sigmaaaaaaaaaaa!"

If you're already an man of adroit social grace who judiciously opts for a "sigma" lifestyle, then I absolutely agree with this post. Unfortunately that likely excludes a sizable portion of our readership.

In theory this sounds great, but from the way you're talking it sounds like you just believe in MGTOW or being an introvert(not exactly sure which one). We don't need to break up alpha into sub categories and we shouldn't because it distracts from what being alpha is. You can be an alpha whether you're a "sigma" or a "typical alpha", separating them only separates our community and dissolves our bonds.
