This subreddit needs more studies.

[–]TRP VanguardVZPurp 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I agree, it's tough though. In the academic world you cause a shitstorm if you point out differences between men and women, especially if it points out a difference in intelligence. IQ tests adjust for sex differences to blur the performance distinction.

The home of feminism, academia, is not friendly to science that will discredit them.

[–]Hormander -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree. But I remember a time when people posted more studies in this subreddit...

Its funny that people don't accept the differences despite all the studies and actual life experience. They still want to cling onto their theory regardless.

[–]FinalEquin0x 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Great study, but entirely unsurprising.

Women and Men are naturally different. What else is new.

Though it's interesting that women are better at facilitating group solutions and men are better at finishing a solo task at hand. Kind of goes perfectly with RP theory.

[–]Platapushkin 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

The authors observed only a few gender differences in the connectivity in children younger than 13 years, but the differences were more pronounced in adolescents aged 14 to 17 years and young adults older than 17.

This worries me though, could be an argue point for nurture vs nature.

Truth. To be honest I don't agree with the majority of TRP philosophy, mostly because I'm female and I see a ton of general woman-bashing in this community. I wouldn't call myself a feminist, I don't think I know enough about gender roles in general to make that claim, I just don't believe (for example) that I or any other female is incapable of deviating from what TRP believes is the "norm". I see a lot of people saying that sluts or even former sluts are "not good LTR material", but I personally believe that every individual person is completely unique. You can apply sweeping generalizations/statistics to a population, but not to an individual. There are sluts out there who would love to settle down and make great partners. It may be statistically less likely that a slut will have this mindset compared to a woman who's more conservative, but that's about it. If you're willing to take a chance she might be the woman of your dreams. If she's not, oh well. Move on.

TL,DR; Women aren't assholes; people are assholes. Based on my experience with men, they are angry, violent, single-minded meat bags, but I'm not going to say they're ALL like that. Testosterone is a hell of a drug.

[–]Butimdifferent 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

FUCK

"To be honest I don't agree with the majority of TRP philosophy, mostly because I'm female"

It has nothing to do if you are female or not. Anyone, anywhere, can understand a concept. By your logic, all the women over at TRPW are talking out of their ass because they are female.

"I just don't believe (for example) that I or any other female is incapable of deviating from what TRP believes is the "norm""

Because you don't have the perspective to. You can't read any of this stuff and NOT think of yourself because that is the only point of view you can rationalize. Also, this is the second instance in your paragraph in which you speak for other women from your perspective.

"I see a lot of people saying that sluts or even former sluts are "not good LTR material", but I personally believe that every individual person is completely unique."

What are you even trying to say? We're snowflakes? People aren't as special as you think, lady.

"You can apply sweeping generalizations/statistics to a population, but not to an individual."

Why not? Because you believe everybody is different? If data is consistent, there is no reason to not apply general knowledge to the situation.

"There are sluts out there who would love to settle down and make great partners."

That's nice.

"It may be statistically less likely that a slut will have this mindset compared to a woman who's more conservative, but that's about it."

Why play a game where the odds are stacked against you? It makes more sense to start from a better base.

"If you're willing to take a chance she might be the woman of your dreams"

I read that as "If a man accepts me for the subpar human being that I am, he might be the man of my dreams!". You don't have even a slight idea of what the man's perspective of this is. Woman of my dreams? That is something a man would say only to appease the woman he is with. It is a feminine way of thinking.

"TL,DR; Women aren't assholes; people are assholes. Based on my experience with men, they are angry, violent, single-minded meat bags, but I'm not going to say they're ALL like that. Testosterone is a hell of a drug."

Women are the biggest assholes out there. You are an asshole. Your experiences with men are only from your point of view. You have a shitty point of view, so the men you deal with resent you. All men aren't like that until they prove to this special snowflake that they aren't like that. Estrogen makes women be better women, but prevents them from being better individuals.

FUCK

[–]tetrahydrous -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

First of all, your reply seems very emotional and belligerent and I'd like it if you'd take it down a couple notches. I don't like debating with someone who throws out personal insults. It makes your opinions seem biased and riddled with emotion rather than objectivity.

"It has nothing to do if you are female or not. Anyone, anywhere, can understand a concept. By your logic, all the women over at TRPW are talking out of their ass because they are female."

You misinterpret. I understand and mostly agree with the "official" Red Pill philosophy. I understand and accept that there are statistical differences between men and women, as this study points out. It's the community I can't stand. There's a lot of general, "women are inferior to men" ideology in the comments. I know I'm not alone in this opinion as I've seen many top posts recently talking about how TRP needs to stop woman-bashing.

"Because you don't have the perspective to. You can't read any of this stuff and NOT think of yourself because that is the only point of view you can rationalize. Also, this is the second instance in your paragraph in which you speak for other women from your perspective."

I think of myself and other women like me. I think of all the other ladies I've met who directly contradict your norms. Women who are financially successful, ambitious, educated and kind. I speak for them and for myself. At the very least, I have a right to the latter.

"What are you even trying to say? We're snowflakes? People aren't as special as you think, lady."

I'm saying that basing your "strategy" on the idea that all women or all men are one way or the other will set you up for failure. That's not how human interaction works. If you meet a woman who's very independent and more controlling/dominatrix in the bedroom, subtle "negging" will only serve to piss her off and give you a bad reputation. You should base your strategy on each individual person. Get to know her. Who is she? What does she like? Is she more submissive? Ambitious? Lazy? Manipulative? Passionate? There are general trends that exist with each gender, but just because almost every man I meet is going to be the type who screams during arguments, that does NOT men I'm going to start purposely, strategically attracting those types of men (unless I want quantity instead of quality). Just as, for example, although most women are overly-subconscious and won't go outside without makeup, I'm not going to start targeting those women just because they're easy to get and there are more of them. Unless I'm looking for that sort of thing. In which case, more power to you. But if you go negging every woman you meet in hopes one of them will get the hots for you, you'll ONLY attract the ones with self-esteem issues, and from now on you'll go around telling everyone that ALL women are that way when really it's just those are the types YOU happen to date.

"Why not? Because you believe everybody is different? If data is consistent, there is no reason to not apply general knowledge to the situation."

Of course. I agree with this. I just think a lot of folks here take it a little too far and make very heavy assumptions based on very little knowledge. For example, "That girl wears jeans under her dress, she's obviously prude and a total bitch!" I don't think you can know who someone is or what they want until you get to know them. That plays into the whole, "People are unique" thing. You can't say, "That girl is a girl, she's probably manipulative and bitchy!" Anymore than I can say, "That guy is a guy, he probably gets in tons of fist fights!"

"Why play a game where the odds are stacked against you? It makes more sense to start from a better base."

Maybe you're just scared of rejection so you're not willing to try "high-risk" females. I would've considered my husband "high-risk" (he is very masculine and I was worried he would turn out too violent or dickish) but he's relly a big softie!

"I read that as "If a man accepts me for the subpar human being that I am, he might be the man of my dreams!". You don't have even a slight idea of what the man's perspective of this is. Woman of my dreams? That is something a man would say only to appease the woman he is with. It is a feminine way of thinking."

When I say, "Women of your dreams", realistically I mean the woman you'll spend the next 10-50 years with. I also don't think that if a woman sleeps around that makes her a "subpar human being." Many members of this sub use it to sleep with as many women as possible. Are they subpar humans beings as well?

"Women are the biggest assholes out there. You are an asshole. Your experiences with men are only from your point of view. You have a shitty point of view, so the men you deal with resent you. All men aren't like that until they prove to this special snowflake that they aren't like that. Estrogen makes women be better women, but prevents them from being better individuals."

Your experiences with women are only from your point of view. You have a shitty point of view, so the women you deal with resent you. No wonder you believe all women are assholes.

I don't believe all men are assholes. I recognize that mine are only isolated experiences that mean nothing to every other man I meet in life. Do you recognize that about women? Or are you going to keep believing that your few, tiny experiences actually say anything about the woman serving you coffee at Starbucks, or the female clerk at a TJ Maxx?

[–]Party_Liquor 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If you're willing to take a chance she might be the woman of your dreams. If she's not, oh well. Move on.

It's not really that simple for men especially after marriage. Prior to marriage then you are right, the man only has to deal with the emotional fallout.

After marriage, he was to worry about divorce rape and the catastrophic consequences of disassosciating from the "wrong woman," whereas women face no such dangers in divorce.

[–]tetrahydrous -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Typically, yes. But if the woman happens to be making more money than the man (let's say he's a stay-at-home dad), it's likely she'll be the one paying alimony. Again, every situation is unique. I am an engineering student and my husband will be a stay-at-home dad when/if we have kids. If we were to get divorced, I would be the one paying him. And rightfully so. If he's staying out of school to take care of the kids, I have a moral obligation to help him out if things go sideways.

[–]Party_Liquor 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I lol 'ed at this. Only a woman would believe in the inherent "fairness" of the family court system. What is it the SRSers say, check your privilege.

[–]tetrahydrous -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

sigh... I didn't say it was fair. I said the opposite. I said typically you are right, but there are exceptions to the rule. Obviously.

My dad has been fucked in court three times now and now we're poor because his wives took EVERYTHING. Don't tell me that "only a woman would think like that" crap.

[–]BooksofMagic 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

All I heard here was blah blah blah, people are special and individual and unique snowflakes blah blah blah. We are all individuals, yes. But a person is special for what they do and accomplish in life. Not for simply existing.

It honestly seems like every time a woman weighs in, they feel compelled to point out all the exceptions to the 'rules'. But these exceptions do not disprove the rule at all. You can't look at outliers and base your assumptions around them. In general, all these are truths as a man sees them. Most everything posted here is intentionally said in a way for MEN to understand them, not women. We don't care what you think of it or even if you agree with it. It wasn't meant for your approval.

[–]tetrahydrous -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Every human being is unique in that they all hold unique combinations of beliefs, experiences, opinions, preferences, convictions, etc. You could look at a person's "data" (White, blonde hair, blue eyes, female, student, mother) and find they are the opposite of what you'd expect. You can base your "seduction strategy" on the idea that all women are manipulative, bitchy and bossy, but then you'd only be attracting those types of women.

You base your assumptions on that rule. I base my assumptions on the outliers because those are the men I want to attract. I don't want an angry, violent man (even though most men are this way). I will accept the rejection, be myself, and wait patiently for my outlier.

If you base your seduction strategy on who you are, of course you're going to run into rejection more often than not because your goal is to attract that 1/1,000,000 woman. People are like puzzle pieces. All unique, all different. You'll have to go through a lot of duds before you find the right piece.

Other people are more like squares. They fit with whoever they happen to be standing next to; the bitchy women (who are trying too hard to be independent to the point that they are simply mean and manipulative) and the alpha men (who are trying too hard to attract mean and manipulative women by becoming something they really aren't). They're constantly fucking like bunnies because they've sacrificed their REAL personalities to become something easy. Something that will allow them to get lots of sex without any real connection. They're looking for 1/10.

I'd rather wait patiently for my 1/1,000,000. My outlier.

[–]BooksofMagic 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is interesting. 6 months ago I felt exactly how you do and would have agreed with you 100%. Now I do not. I can certainly see how you have gotten the opinion that we all think women are "manipulative, bitchy and bossy" though. There is a lot of bashing for sure. But you have to expect that here. It's men talking to men. I've seen the shit that jezebel posts and believe me it's no better and possibly even worse. It's not like most of us ACTUALLY think this way about women. Any given women is certainly capable of any or all of those traits dependent on circumstance though. Just as men are prone to violent outbursts at times. That's why this shit makes sense. Our genitals are different, there's different chemicals in our bodies, and our brains are even wired differently thanks to all the Testosterone inside us while we are forming in the womb. Fighting biology seems futile without any understanding of what's really going on though.

I don't want an angry, violent man

If you're serious about this there are comic book stores FULL of guys who would fall all over themselves to treat a woman right. Outside of there, your chances go way down. If you're looking for someone to spend your life with, why not up your odds? I think that is the true goal of many guys when first taking the red pill.

[–]tetrahydrous -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Up until recently I dated men like that, but to be honest they're usually too socially awkward and that's a huge dealbreaker for me.

I once dated a guy named Sam who absolutely refused to meet my parents because he was scared. Not like a, "We've been dating a long time and you ought to meet my parents" thing.

More like a, "Hey, it's my mom and dad! Wha....? Why are you hiding? You don't want them to see you? They're just passing through..."

I found it really unattractive. He never wanted to go to social events or out to "do" something. Swimming? "I'm self-conscious without my shirt.". Rollerblading? "Nah." Hiking? "I don't like getting sweaty."

That's just one example, but they're usually just super socially awkward... or they smell bad. Or both. :( They also don't usually take very good care of their bodies. How many fit, well-groomed men do you see down at your local card / comic shop?

Anyway, I'm married now to a total geek who also happens to take care of himself and doesn't look half bad doing it. He's the guy everyone goes to for their computer issues and makes the best grilled cheese and looks amazing to boot! He's pretty much the opposite of what you might insinuate by looking at his "history" and his appearance.

Anyway, yeah, I don't hate on the official Red Pill, it's just when I read some of the comments it makes me not want to be a big part of the community.

I am only pointing out that women like this exist. I'm not saying all women are different from the "norm", I'm saying some, a few, maybe a lot, are. My point is that no two women are exactly alike. More importantly, no two people are exactly alike. Why do you think so many different viewpoints exist on TRP even though you all read the same "doctrine" in the sidebar? Why do you think two different women will dress radically differently?

Because people are different.

In contrast, you are saying that these kinds of women (and men) do not exist. You are saying all women are almost exactly alike. You are saying that all women follow the same patterns, with the same variables, all the time. Statistically, it doesn't make sense. You are making generalizations about women (and men as well).

Prove me wrong.

Having someone tell me that because I'm a woman, I'm incapable of feeling love, or incapable of one day being financially independent, or incapable of rational thought, does not make me feel like I'm being "called out on my bullshit." It makes me wonder what circumstances could possibly cause someone to actually, truly, and with all their hearts believe that they are better than women. I suppose it's the same sort of hate that leads people to believe that they're better than Blacks, better than Jews, or better than homosexuals.

I know you've probably had a lot of bad experiences with women. You've probably been lied to, cheated on, and manipulated. Maybe you even lost your house, or your kids, to a woman in a nasty divorce.

But guess what: no one looks back on their ex's fondly. Including women. Speaking for myself and all the break-up horror stories I've heard or been part of, I ought to conclude that men are freaking animals. How often they rape, how often they murder, how often they end up in prison, how often they beat up my friends in domestic violence disputes, I ought to think that men are literally insane.

Did you know that a young Black man with no diploma is more likely to be in jail than to have a job?

If you say that the majority of women are heartless, manipulative, cold-to-the-core bitches based on how they acted while they were dating you or your friends, then logic dictates that based on the way men treat women when they are in romantic relationships with me or my friends, then men are all deeply aggressive and murderous.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why, the difference between a girl and a boy is much lesser than the difference between a man and a woman.

Not because of nurture but because of puberty.

[–]LaserSoundMusic 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The way I view nature vs nurture is that nature provides a "function" while nurture provides inputs/variables for that function. The output is a persons behavior.

[–]Party_Liquor 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would say that is it HUGE support for nature. Those age ranges are when puberty really kicks in and the male/female hormones start scultping the otherwise relatively androgenous child human form into distinctly male or female.

[–]7Vega 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This worries me though, could be an argue point for nurture vs nature.

Look at the ages. It's an argument for puberty and the dramatic effect that hormones have on us.

[–]Redpillc0re 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Puberty is a pivotal point in life, an effect of hormones. Hormones are definitely nature, not nurture.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or it might be nature and puberty/hormones have a lot to do with it.

Most of the time its both nature and nurture though.

http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science/2013/12/hard_wired_brain_differences_critique_of_male_female_neuroscience_imaging.html

TL;DR The results may reflect the different wiring solutions of larger versus smaller brains, rather than sex differences per se.

And she refuses to believe that she contradicts herself when she says:

Male brains are, on average, larger than females and a large brain is not simply a smaller brain scaled up.

[–]BooksofMagic -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Actually, if you take a look at that 7 part series, they mention that the reason that men's brains are wired differently is due to it being bathed in Testosterone while in the womb.

I just wanted to throw this pathetic critique out
