Basically to the common RP visitor the terms mean the following:

Beta: Everything I think sucks. Alpha: Everthing I think is awesome.

There is little to no appreciation of the words in their socio-biological context.

You can't really blame uneducated kids for their lack of knowledge though. Education is at an all time low, standard wise.

RP sidebar does very little to alleviate this problem. Because there too there is adherence to the principles in only the most simplified of terms. Ignoring all recent and nuanced science.

Basically pop psychology at its finest...or worst...depends on whether you're turning a profit or not.

Unfortunately by doing so you end up missing the major interest of those terms: the fact that alpha and beta describe the two sides of women's sexual strategy. The fact that any woman needs both the lover and the provider, at different degrees through her period cycle and through her life.

Because this single fact alone goes a long way to explain women's behavior and answers one of the eternal question "what do women want?" with an answer that is simple, accurate and useful, it is at the very core of TRP wisdom. Wanting to overlook this idea is absolutely criminal.

Of all the different ways to understand alpha and beta, the one you discuss - alpha = masculine winner, beta = unmasculine loser - is the least useful of them all.

No. That is not how Alpha and Beta works. Just because you are trying doesn't mean you are Alpha. Just because you are in the arena doesn't mean you are alpha.

The Theodore Roosevelt quote is amazing, don't destroy it.

The Stephen quote that you modified also sucks.

Just because you are beta doesn't mean you haven't tried. Jesus, i look back and i see some of my beta behaviours but that was ME TRYING.

Just because you are learning how to manage a company, that doesn't make you a manager.

Some good points well made. The part about trying more times than others have failed resonates with me in particular. And in response to your disclaimer - it's important to read different views

Fancy words with no substance. You make a poor argument using misinformation and loosely applied political concepts.

Where is your proof that hierarchies are unnatural constructs? Do you really believe hierarchies are, like religion, unique to human cultures?

Making the case that trying is winning holds no weight in my book. Winning is winning and trying is trying. Neither is worth anything without the other.

If you expected this post to hold up under scrutiny you wouldn't have felt it necessary to begin with a disclaimer.
