So I live overseas and found a decent girl that I like. We have been dating about two years. I know most people here are not pro marriage but I want to raise a family so to me it is important to get married. Also If we are not married when I decide to go back home it will be a big hassle.

I know before in our relationship she has lied to me. So I have forgiven her but I don't forget. I think if I am going to honestly consider taking this next step I need to be 100% confident in the person I am doing it with. So before I make any rash decisions I planned on doing two things.

1.Asking, " Do you have anything you've been keeping from me?" 2. Unlock your phone and let me see it for 20 minutes.

If I am going to take the gamble that is marriage I think I am entitled to know if there is anything that would give me pause. Also I know the chances of her being truthful if there is a problem is slim to non.

So my question to you guys is, what do you think of this idea? Would you do it? Is it unnecessary? Is it a weak move? Thanks for your opinions.

Edit* I did a horrible job putting my thoughts into words so I wanted to add a quick edit. I am not planning on proposing soon. If I make that choice it won't be for another 12 months at least.

Everyone says you don't trust her so don't propose. I don't trust women in general. But I do want to have kids. I think that the best environment to bring a child into this world is a healthy marriage. So I guess a better question would be, how can I find a balance between my inability to trust and my goals of being a father?

Also thanks to everyone who gave their opinions so far.
