Orbiters are not even a consideration. Just walk right up, tell her you need to tell her something, and bounce her.

Maintain eye contact with her the entire time, don't even acknowledge his presence.

If he tries to say anything, just ask her, "Is this your man?" She will embarrassingly say no, and he will look like a cock-blocking chump.

Don't over think it, just nut up and go after her.

Approach normally, acknowledge (head nod is enough) the orbiter but don't continue to engage him. If she's honestly annoyed by the orbiter, you're doing her a favor. If she's got some interest in you, she'll also ignore the orbiter and he'll hopefully drift away. If she's not interested in you, she'll keep engaging the orbiter despite her annoyance.

Why not just ignore him completely. As soon as you show her that you're interested, he becomes the cock-block.

I'm going to guess that you're in college, because that's the only place that I can imagine an orbiter sticking around someone for so long.

Hypothetically speaking, if you just go up to them both, and you introduce yourself, then talk to her for a couple of sentences, and proceed to tell her that you want to take her out for coffee as a date. That will shut things down hard.

Ill just approach, and run my game. When the orbiter tries to make his presence known, cock block or interject, ill acknowledge his presence with a quick "hey, blah, nice to meet you," then go right back to what i was doing. I have found that as soon as the orbiter tries to interject, its a great time to pull the chick. Ill say "im going to the bar to grab a drink" and just grab her hand and and pull her with you. They always smile and come willingly.
