Giving 40 dollars as a tip? Holy shit, you want to give her something as a bonus, not a fucking day salary.

This just sounds like "oh look, I have so much money that I can use it to make friends". 10% tips are normal, but that is ridiciolus. The fact that you even tought about this so much is a big waste of time. Just be a normal cool dude and talk with people, and everything will be fine.
