This is something that I personally struggle with morally and philosophically.

As someone who earns well above the average wage I feel personally comfortable enough to survive in this brave new world, but property prices are insane where I live, as in they're no longer even close to the realm of affordability for working class near the city where I need to work. So even as someone on 6 figures I may be fated to a renters life like so many... this kind of thought affects my long term decisions and motivations.

But there are much more threatening issues that affect my motivations... I actually try to avoid reading the news because it makes me depressed but when I do read it, I'm interested in the current discourse of the free world and how it affects the working class such as myself...

From the way jobs are outsourced to China for essentially slave labour, to the way companies like Monsanto can buy politicians in order to continue running extremely dubious operations... to the way the weapons and arms industry works... the war on drugs, the war on terrorism, the military industrial complex...the for profit prison systems... and much much much more... everything is well organised corruption now... so engrained in the DNA of government, and process and legislation that its very difficult to reverse... well impossible really.

The standard of living and job security are in a constant decline. Everything from Seafood resources, fresh water, to food supplies, to wages, to social support for working class families is in a constant decline. Which is cool for someone who is a 28 year old single male with no responsibilities beyond his career... but it does mean I need to consider things like settling down, and FSM God forbid marriage...

To read the news is to read about the decline, which is why I try to avoid reading about it. I'll attend the usual peaceful march protests, but they do nothing to help the current or future generations, besides cause a bit of news for free media outlets like the Guardian...

So when I see friends of mine with young families, where they could lose their job at any given week, who pay insane chunks of their income to rent close enough to the city to commute to their 9-7 jobs. I can't help but think maybe I shouldn't start a family like my lineage did before me. For many of these working class families... they're destined to a life of economic slavery and stress ... I'm thinking society as a whole would benefit from me not raising the population even further.

I think maybe I should let my sisters or my cousins or friends go through that family path and just be there to help them out, as the crazy single uncle or friend who never settled down, which main stream media frowns upon (as does my mother and grandparents :D).

I'm starting to see my future as a bachelor type, who ultimately becomes financially free and lives a stress free early retirement due to no children and being able to save faster.

Well in any case...I'm 28 now, but have decided to not settle until I'm 32. So I have a few years to become financially free enough that I could safely and comfortably raise a kid with all of the advantages and opportunities my parents slaved away to provide me.
