No, boy needs a mother, not a "figure". Like every kid. We can go on and pretend that all "families" are the same. Two gay guys? Excellent. A commune? Even better, it takes a village. But millions of years of evolution clearly show that sexual dimorphism and parental investment are the way to go.

On a plus side though, single fathers supposedly do better than single mothers.

I can't say for sure but, I know if my father took me out fishing, into the woods, camping, sailing, taught me about life, women, showed me how to develop balls and courage, and survive with my own two hands, that would make a huge difference in my life now..

Instead my dad would come home and watch TV and argue with my mom.

Not enough male role models in our society, we live in a society influenced by women, your child will get enough female "mother figure" attention in school. Most of his teachers will be women.

The one thing he won't get from the public is a father figure, you have to provide that.

Need? No. But I think a child would be a more well-rounded individual for growing up in a healthy household.

I chose my wife for her mothering skills. I knew that, based on my personality, that I needed a wife that would bring a different skill-set to the table when it came to parenting.

She's very good with the soft-skills. I'm better at consistently enforcing discipline.

She'll follow up on the invites to play-dates and birthday parties. I'm out playing kickball with them in the back alley.
She's taking them to Sunday brunch. I'm letting them sneak out of their room and watch a movie with me at 10pm on a Friday night.
She'll teach them to sing "The Wheels On the Bus". I'm teaching them to fist-pump and shout "OY!" to AC/DC's T.N.T.

Women bring a set of skills to the table. Don't discount them out of hand just because they come from a woman.

I don't think they do, at least not in today's society. If you're a man that can both work and take care of his child, I think that environment will create a better man (if you do have a son). I'm not really sure what a mother does that a father can't except things that would eventually turn him into a blue piller.

And if TRP's premise is right (which I strongly believe it is) and the whole world is spouting the feminist crap that's resulted in a massively blue pill society, why would you want that ideology pervading your home life?

He'll learn how to treat women from you if you bring home women, you don't necessarily need a mother for that.

he needs a mother to learn what makes a good woman, what traits to look out for and to learn how to treat a woman by observing how his father treats his wife.

It doesn't matter if it is a boy or a girl. You need both parents for a child to grow up successfully in this society. If you are considering of being a single parent in the future then you are already showing a dysfunctional behavior.
