Hello gentlemen,

Long time lurker of this sub, I want to say that from MY perception, the root of this rejection of mainstream society (which I reject too, in a different sense) comes from economic changes.

Since the 1960s there, after the golden age of capitalism 1935-1960 (back in the Keynesian era, where the top 1% were taxed at 95%, today it is 27% or something), there have been increasing neoliberal policies that affect male-female relations. Corporate elites have ruined the family unit, and sold women the idea of feminism under the guise of freedom. It is mostly a lie. While liberals in society focus on identity, symbols, society, they miss the economics- and their analysis of today’s society is fundamentally flawed.

My grandfather was able to go to college for 2 years, work as a low-level accountant for his city. Buy a house worth $12,000 with cash with no mortgage (that house today is worth $2 million). My grandmother didn’t work and stayed at home, where she supported their 4 daughters and raised them with respectable, yet strong values. Now a days, you could hardly buy a trailer without taking out a loan, let alone, support a 6 person household on a single middle class income in a city. Wages have not gone up at all since the 60s when adjusted for inflation. How can we let men be men if we impoverish them and trap them in debt bondage?

The 1960s co-opted female liberation as the reason for women entering the job market, yet it was because it actually increased profitability for corporate elites. You would think that a 2 person income would have made us better off, yet this is not the case. Cost of living has gone up, property has gone up, wages have not.

Now a days if a man wants to live the dream, it literally is an ECONOMICALLY impossible task. Both men and women are losing out. Women co-opt feminism, independence, sexual liberation, because they can no longer rely on a man to support them and men, to little fault of their own, can rarely support women or themselves. Women are victims of this change as well, they’ve been falsely sold the idea of sexual liberation, yet no women feels much better about themselves after sleeping around. They are no freer. Liberals have lied to them as well. They’ve pitted us against each other, distracting us with debates about society and culture while they empty our pockets and take away our economic freedom and thus, our ability to counter such a culture. There is little incentive for women to follow the traditional path now a days, but they are no happier now. We have to look at why that is objectively.

I believe that in the name of increasing profits, we’ve shifted the conversation away from the material conditions necessary to support our ideals, and instead focused on “values” and “ideas” as the primary source of our problems. The corporate elite are fooling us, leading to extremes both left and right.
